PES University, Bangalore, recently introduced a new programme in Development Studies through its recently established Centre for Development Studies (CDS).

The CDS is headed and advised by Professor R.S. Deshpande, former Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru.

MSc in Applied Economics is a unique programme that aims to equip students with the ability to adapt to intellectually and technologically changed economic environment.

The emphasis is on producing top class economists and business experts, whose knowledge and skills can find wide applications for policy making in government sectors and strategizing business management.

The four-semester programme is designed with the view to constantly upgrade the knowledge with global changes and developments through regular interactions and strengthening analytical skills.

The programme consists of 64 compulsory papers and 4 specialization papers and four audit courses.

The final semester will have a dissertation carrying 20 credits. The dissertation will be guided by the faculty.

Graduates (BA; BSc (Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences); B Com, B Stat; BE, B Tech) with First division are eligible to apply to the course. Admission will be granted on the basis of an entrance score conducted by PES University.
