Kashmir University admissions are primarily entrance-based. The university conducts KUET for admission to UG and PG courses. The university also accepts CMAT for MBA, GATE for MTech, GPAT for MPharm, GAT-B for MSc Biotechnology. The university also considers scores in UGAT, JEE Main, etc.

A valid 12th standard certificate with a final aggregate of 50% is necessary for MA course at Central University of Kashmir. The institution administers entrance examinations for enrollment in a variety of undergraduate and graduate programmes, including the MA. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the entrance exam via the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

Hence, candidate with a rank of 1,35,000 in JEE Main can get a seat at SMVDU in all the specialisations except for BTech CSE as per the last year cutoff.
