Kashmir University admissions are primarily entrance-based. The university conducts KUET for admission to UG and PG courses. The university also accepts CMAT for MBA, GATE for MTech, GPAT for MPharm, GAT-B for MSc Biotechnology. The university also considers scores in UGAT, JEE Main, etc.

Admission to CU Kashmir includes merit and entrance based eligibility criteria. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12 along with valid scores in CUET UG/PG for the admission to UG and PG level courses. Furthermore, candidates must apply through the official website of the University. Shortlisted candidates must pay the fees and confirm the seat.

During SMVDU cutoff 2023, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was 94017, for B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering was 227213, for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering was 402493, for B.Tech. in Civil Engineering was 657668 and for B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering was 505053 for the General category All India seat. Hence, candidate with a rank of 1,35,000 in JEE Main can get a seat at SMVDU in all the specialisations except for BTech CSE as per the last year cutoff.
