M.A. in English 

at Jesus and Mary College, Chanakya Puri

Only seven students are admitted to Jesus and Mary College's M.A. in English programme per year. Candidates must have finished their undergraduate studies with a minimum of 50% in order to be considered for this two-year postgraduate program. Jesus & Mary College offers UG courses in Arts, Science and Commerce disciplines. The courses are B.A, B.A (Hons.), B.Com, B.Com (Hons.) and B.Sc (Hons.). According to the eligibility criteria for UG courses,  students need to pass 10+2 level with at least 45% marks in aggregate from a recognised board.The candidates must have qualified their Bachelor's degree in any stream. The aspirants must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Bachelors with any recognised University. The applicants can qualify the AIE CET (All India Engineering Common Entrance Test) to get admission in MA in English.

To be eligible for the M.A. programme at Jesus and Mary College (JMC), applicants must have passed a 10+2 exam from a recognised board and hold a bachelor's degree. Selection is based on merit in the previous qualifying exam. The college offers M.A. courses in English and Hindi, lasting 2 years. For admission to these courses, candidates must have a relevant bachelor's degree. Selection for PG programs is merit-based. The college reserves 50% of seats for minority community students, specifically Christians, as well as reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD students. Admission is not on a first-come, first-served basis; rather, it is based on meeting criteria and cutoffs for specific programs after filling out the online registration form.

The 2025 placement data is out for Miranda House. However, for JMC it is yet to be released. According to the official brochure, the highest package offered during Miranda House placements 2025 stood at INR 19 LPA. The highest salary grabbed by Jesus and Mary College students in 2024 stood at INR 23.05 LPA. Other than this, the highest package offered during Gargi College placements 2024 stood at INR 23.05 LPA as well.

A nationwide entrance exam called the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is required for admission to all undergraduate degrees at all central universities. Registration for CUET UG 2024 closed at 11:50 p.m. on April 5, 2024. The online application for CUET 2024 was open. The CUET 2024 admission card was made available by the National Testing Agency via exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ on May 29. The CUET 2024 exam for Delhi centres was originally planned for May 15, but the NTA has moved it to May 29. The CUET admit card and intimation slip can be downloaded by candidates who have paid the application fee and registered for the exam.

NTA has mentioned that CUET UG 2026 syllabus will adhere to NCERT syllabus. Hence, it can be assumed that the NCERT books are enough to cover the syllabus of the CUET UG exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the subject concepts and ability to apply them in various situations.

Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national-level competitive entrance exams. The CUET UG syllabus is similar with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus. The chapters and topics are similar to Class 12 syllabus. Unlike other UG entrance exams, CUET UG syllabus does not include Class 11 syllabus.

College life in any college depends on various factors. In JMC, college life will mainly depend on the kind of people/friends you meet. It is actually happening for people with group of active friends as there are lot of cafes nearby to visit with your friends.  Fests are a regular thing in JMC especially in the month of April / May which gets boring at times but still fun. The campus is beautiful with many picture taking spots and an amazing library.  

There is no exact number of students studying in Jesus and Mary College but it might range somewhere between 2400-2700.

Each class has a healthy strength of about 30-40 students depending upon course or department and may sometimes be even divided into 2 sections. 

Overall, the student strength of the college is balanced.
