Generally, there is no one right LLB subject that prepares you for LLM. If someone wants to study a particular area of LLM then the ideal choice would fall towards that specific area. Here's why:

LLM Specializations: A Master of Laws is more specific in the areas of law that students pursue when in the course.
Alignment with Specialization: While switching from an LLB programme to an LLM programme might be relatively easy, the choice of courses that you took in your LLB that relates with your preferred LLM specialisation can serve as a foundation and thus make the switch easier.
For example if one’s LLM specialisation is in Corporate Law then Company Law, Contract Law and Business Law are relevant courses in the LLB.

NLU Kolkata LLM programme has a seat intake of 102 students, including all specialisations. Candidates are offered seat in LLM based on their CLAT score. In 2024, CLAT cutoff for NUJS LLM was 620 indicating that aspirants must have a rank between 500-700 for a seat in NUJS LLM.

Candidates wishing to get admission in LLB at Techno India University should have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with at least 45% marks. The college considers valid score of CLAT or university's entrance exam for admission.

The university has 42 seats for the LLM course. Faculty of Law, CU LLM seat allotment process is carried out through e-counselling. The seats are allotted based on the applicants scores in the CULET-UG examination. It must be noted that the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. For the selection process of Braiware University LLM course, the university selects the candidates in the basis of merit, which is released according to the scores achieved by the candidates in their graduation and BET (Brainware Eligibility Test). Those who get selected in the merit list gets the admission letter from the university/ university's admission department.

In order to apply for St. Xavier's University LLM admissions, students are required to fill out an application form and pay the fees of INR 1,000. Students must note that this fee is nonrefundable and can be paid via online payment modes.

Kalyani University admission to most of the courses are offered via scores of various state/ national-level entrance exams. However, the university does not conduct any entrance exams on its own, but it accepts a few state/ national-level entrances conducted by West Bengal state. These include WBJEE, WB JECA, WB JEMAT, CAT, MAT, GATE, etc., for admission to BTech, MCA, MBA and M.Tech programmes. As per the Sarsuna Law Colleg admission guidelines, admission is based on the merit list. The merit list is prepared based on the candidates performance in the qualifying exam. For LLM the qualifying exam will be the degree course in LLB with 50% aggregate and for the LLB its dgree with 45% aggregate.
