IIM Placements 2025: Highest Salary Package & Top Recruiting Companies

IIM placements for MBA programmes are conducted between December-February every year and the institutes release their final placements reports for the outgoing batch between January and July. The final placements for full-time MBA holds major importance among management graduates as it indicates the mood of job market and value of the degree. IIMs being the top most B-Schools in India naturally enjoy good repute among corporates and industries for recruiting young and enterprising managers.

In the IIM final placements, the average salary package offered to candidates ranges from INR 20-25 lakh per annum, whereas the salary packages of the newer IIMs are usually recorded between INR 10-20 lakh per annum. In the past, the highest salary offers at the top IIMs - A, B, C have been recorded at INR 70 lakh to INR 1 crore as CTC. International salary packages offered are usually INR 70 lakh per annum and above. The highest salary package (domestic) offered to IIM Ahmedabad graduate during 2025 placements is INR 1.10 crore per annum. The highest international salary package stood at INR 91.88 lakh per annum, as per the IIM Ahmedabad audited placement report.

IIM Placement Process

The placement process at IIMs comprises three major activities – namely Summer, Lateral and Final Placements.

Summer Placements: The summer placements are organised in April-May for the firms to recruit students for internships. Summer placements also help in building a platform to receive pre-placement offers (PPOs). The summer placements happen over four to five days in the month of March. This process is guided by an elaborate set of rules for both students and recruiters.

Lateral Placements: The lateral placements at IIMs take place a couple of months before the final placements in which two-year MBA/PGP students with work experience (18 months and more) can participate. 

Final Placements: The final placement process which takes place in December-January is almost similar across all the IIMs except for a few minor deviations here and there. For example, IIM Ahmedabad follows the cohort-based system, instead of the day-based system. The cohort based system allows recruiters to assess students in groups based on domain or expertise over a longer period of time.
