If given a chance, I would love to host a fashion show on my own in college, says Tanushi Gupta

International Business was my choice because I didn’t want to restrict myself and wanted to have as much exposure as possible. I wanted to enhance my skills and knowledge.
After 10th standard, we had to choose between Science (medical & non-medical), Commerce, and Arts. I chose Medical because my father is a doctor and I thought he would be able to guide me throughout. I was not mature enough at that time to choose the right stream. That was my reason to become a medical student. Soon, I realized that being a doctor was not my cup of tea. I was surrounded by all the perplexing thoughts and not exactly knowing where I should head to. I decided to go for BSc (Bachelor of Science) from GGDSD College in Chandigarh.
I was doing my graduation, but I still wasn't sure where it would take me and whether it would be best for me. By the end of the second year of my graduation, I realized that it was high time for me to decide what I needed and where I wanted to go in my career. I started planning it during the summer vacation.
After extensive research, I listed my choice and the areas I could choose. I discussed with my family and watched several experience videos of students about the choices I made. The most important thing was that I made up my mind to change my field. I was quite sure that I wanted to go for something in which the knowledge was not limited. MBA met my criteria. Also, it provides several specialisations to choose from. Most importantly it is a more practically oriented field.
International Business was my choice because I didn’t want to restrict myself and wanted to have as much exposure as possible. I wanted to enhance my skills and knowledge. I thoroughly went through the curriculum of all the specializations and selected the best option for me.
I prepared for the respective exams on my own without any coaching or external help. I grabbed good marks and the required percentile for admission.
When I finally decided to pursue MBA, I researched the following things:
- All the specializations available in MBA
- All the entrance exams, their schedules, colleges, passing criteria for shortlisted colleges, their exam pattern, previous year question papers and required study material for the entrance exam.
The study tips I followed for the preparation of the entrance exam:
- I bought some practice papers online and ordered some needed guides (which were prescribed by some YouTubers and people who passed those examinations with good marks).
- I listed all the formulas for Mathematics in one notebook, tips and tricks for solving Logical Reasoning in another. Important notes for the English section in a separate notebook. I made handy notes for a quick revision.
- Regularly, I kept practising questions from different sections and then I did a SWOT analysis through which I got to know about my strengths and weaknesses. I was convinced that logical reasoning is my strongest part followed by English and Mathematics.
-
I practised time management which is the most important to crack MBA exams. You get fixed and different time slots to complete each section in the exams. If you don’t manage your time, then nothing can save you.
-
I watched YouTube tutorials for tips, tricks, and queries that came while preparing for the topic.
-
I studied daily for around 2-3 hours for 2 months before the entrance exam. I solved numerous online question papers to keep a check of my score and improving my time management.
Finally, I gave NMAT and MAT and scored above average. I was able to manage my time and crack the exams with ease.
In MBA you don’t get enough time to waste because you have a lot of tasks in your hands which have to be completed within a time frame. This is a field which gives you a lot of practical exposure. Spending time in college is always fun because doing MBA is like a rollercoaster ride. Some days are too long and loaded with work and some days just pass easily. It is always fun to do presentations, make reports, fulfill your responsibilities, solve case studies, project and be a part of the events that the college conducts.
You are always excited to engage in these activities because you know that at the end the appreciation is waiting for you in the form of certifications, awards or rewards. I never get bored instead I enjoy everything that MBA offers. It shapes your character while educating you. It builds your confidence and boosts your morals.
I love attending leadership lab, managerial communication, decisions sciences, quantitative and international business classes. I also like attending French, Excel, Global supply chain and operations classes. All the subjects are interesting except a few.
If given a chance, I would love to host a fashion show on my own in college because that would be something interesting and different to do. Apart from making it grand and engaging, I would like to deliver a beautiful message through it.
My college experience has been wonderful. The various opportunities, projects, subjects, the brainstorming and guest sessions have helped me a lot. It has definitely broadened my perspectives and shaped me as a person who thinks rationally. The way you interact with people is important as it enhances your communication skills. I can vividly notice the changes and improvements in me.
It has been a mind-blowing experience. No MBA student can deny the amazing experience they go through while pursuing MBA.
