I want to change the world around me: Ridhima Garg
I had been a student from PML SD Public School where I took my first life decision. The biggest decision of a 16 year old, “what to study in class 11th?” Because I had keen interest in knowing about what business is and how is it conducted with so many people connected together at a single point of time, I thought Commerce would be the best option that fits in. After gaining enough introduction studies into the world of Commerce, the subject that interested me the most was Economics. And as under-graduation gives you entire 3 years to know a subject, I opted for Economics honors from MCM DAV College, Chandigarh.
Doing Economics honors was the best choice for my future career path. It made me understand the economical work structure and how you actually reach to a decision. This was the stepping stone of my life where I learnt a lot of things, understood the subject and interacted to different perspectives of people.
Without MBA, thinking of entering corporate feels like being a queen without grooming. That’s not me! So I took up MBA. I am currently pursuing it, facing different challenges day by day and learning what can be best for me. Since I like to connect with people, MBA in HR is surely going to give me a platform to connect to people and develop my worth.
How I cracked college admission
Yes of course, it was not a cat walk for me to reach here where I am today without efforts. I did a lot of research, studied, practiced and gave entrances to get selected on good MBA colleges. Currently, my post grad address is at IBS, Gurgaon. To get into this business school, I appeared in their own customized entrance exam- IBSAT.
I had many colleges on my list, so I gave multiple entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, NMAT by GMAC, SNAP and TISSNET. I also took a year and half of MBA entrance exam coaching from TIME, Chandigarh where I used to have classes and several workshops introducing me to the many career opportunities that MBA offers. Particularly, I wanted to go for Narsee Mojee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. But, with graduation practicing for a next level is a hectic and focused schedule which could have harmed my under graduation studies. So I wasn’t able to crack NMAT by GMAC which was the main criteria to get into the institute. But life never comes on an end until you have fulfilled your dreams. And my dreams led me to IBS Gurgaon.
What I learnt in my college
IBS life has given me so much to experience that I don’t know where to start from. But to begin with, I will start with the room where I spend most of my time. My class room where I attend all the lectures. I spend my time in my classroom, canteen, with my friends, and at the placement support cell where I am a representative. These all are the zones where my college life revolves. Other than enjoying my life as an IBSian, I like to attend some particular subject sessions. It includes economics, organizational behavior, and business communication. These sessions also give me exposure to giving presentations building my confidence, to the real world experiences with live projects and to the interactive talk with faculty to refurnish my skills with help of their feedback.
Any education life is not only about academics and I am an active person about other things too. So I take active part in all the extra-curricular that IBS has to offer. It has activities scheduled on every Friday. I took part in the activity offered by Media Genesis club in which I won first prize. I won in another activity by Econox club. I am an active member of Placement Support Cell and enjoy my work as a representative there. I interact with many people and serve them well so that I can fulfil my obligation as a representative.
I would love to take part and improve my college experience in which ever field the college will offer; any activity that is going to broaden my horizon of management studies and going to help me in further selection in my desired field. I am open to everything that IBS will offer me. As of now, it has changed me a lot as a person in terms of skills, qualities and perspectives.
“Nothing in this world is too small, only you need to work upon it to make it big.” And I want to make my experience that big that it will enable me to change the world around me with my knowledge, experience and learnings.
