By: Swarna Pavithra M
It is important to have a good strategy which works for you and then you can crack this exam with ease, says Swarna.
TANCET entrance exam conducted by Anna University, Chennai, paves way for students to get admission into renowned business schools and management institutes in the state. But that doesn’t mean students have to get tensed and nervous.
- It is important to have a good strategy which works for you and then you can crack this exam with ease.
- Before starting, make a schedule for yourself, list the approximate time required to complete a unit. This gives an estimate of the time required to complete the syllabus. Try to stick with the schedule as much as possible, but do not panic if it slips a bit. Slips are bound to happen, but it is important to stick along.
- To begin with quantitative aptitude, it is important to be clear with the concepts for better understanding and to recollect the formulae easily. With this, a major chunk of the job gets over.
- Also, while learning formulae, it is important to learn with its applications. Quantitative aptitude by R S Agarwal is one of the standard books to start with.
- Practice as much as possible with regular intervals for effective learning. Don’t overdo yourself.
- Try alternating between a topic of ease to you followed by a difficult one. This strategy will help keep you burning without much burn.
- Regarding business situations, it is not feasible to prepare within a single day. Basic knowledge of some of the frequently used business terms is required. Hence, it is important to start well in advance for this section.
- For reading comprehension, nothing better than extensive reading and a decent vocabulary to start with. Try to read as many topics as possible. There are loads of examples and mocks available online, which would be of great help.
- The more you read the better you will be in comprehending. Remember, there may be more than one perspective to the passage, according to the students. But reading comprehension is all about comprehending the passage and giving answers as per the data given in the passage. Here, we should not apply the facts and universal truths known to everyone and alter the answer.
- Reading the questions prior to reading the passage will be a good strategy to reduce the consumption of time.
- For English usage questions, having an overall view of basic grammar, especially basics such as subject-verb agreement, tenses and active and passive voice. Regular practice and review of errors will minimize the errors.
- It is advisable to not get into new concepts at the last moment. A thorough revision on the already read concepts should do fine for the last moment revision of TANCET.
