About summer internship at IIM Rohtak

Summer internships are a mandatory part of the MBA programme at IIM Rohtak. All the students have to go through a two-month compulsory summer training after the end of the first year. It helps students immensely as they test their learning in their two-month association with the industry. Apart from the usual summer placement week, the students of IIM Rohtak have also proved themselves in the corporate competitions and have been offered internships through this route.

Some of the projects offered by the companies to the students have actually been implemented by the corporates.

The corporate world is able to assess the potential of the students and as well as gains from the novel and innovative ideas brought up by the students. They have consistently offered Pre-Placement Offers and Pre-Placement Interviews to the candidates of IIM Rohtak.

IIM Rohtak has completed the summer placement process for the PGP 2017-19 batch with offers from over 100 companies. The average stipend offered was Rs 50,110, whereas the highest stipend was Rs 2.47 lakh. While banking and finance services were the highest recruiting sector with 21 percent offers, sales & marketing domain extended 49 percent offers. According to IIM Rohtak, the batch size increased by 67 percent and more than 40 new recruiters participated in the process. The placement report released by the institute adheres to the IPRS (The Indian Placement Reporting Standards is an effort towards standardizing B-school placement reports) and is audited by CRISIL. This ensures that the report data is of high quality and is trustworthy.

Sales & Marketing

Sales & Marketing was the highest recruiting domain with over 49 percent offers. All kinds of roles under this domain are on offer during the summer internships, and the students have been able to get the job profile they desire. The roles offered were across Market Research, B2B/B2C Marketing, Sales, Brand Strategy, Franchising and Advertising. Prominent recruiters in this domain included Dabur, Yes Bank, Tata Steel, Sanofi Genzyme, HPCL, BPCL, Amco Batteries, IndiaMart and ACG Worldwide.

Finance

This was the second-highest recruiting domain accounting for over 18 percent offers. Regular recruiters such as ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Reserve Bank of India, SBI, Thomson Reuters, Indus Valley Partners, Muthoot FinCorp, Future Generali, etc., offered wide-ranging profiles based on students’ interest and experience.

Operations

Several automotive, logistics and manufacturing firms extended Operations Management roles. Some of the notable names which recruited in this domain include Larsen & Toubro, Shree Cement, Safexpress, Agarwal Packers & Movers, OfBusiness, Polaris and Autokartz.

IT & Consulting

Cognizant Business Consulting, Wipro and Hitachi Consulting were the major recruiters of this domain which made 12 percent of total offers. New recruiters included Stryker, Luthra Group, KGS Advisors, etc. which offered niche roles in IT/Analytics and Consulting profiles.

General Management & Strategy

This domain accounted for 12 percent of the total offers made. Prominent recruiters included Essel Group, Luthra Group, United Motors Lohia Two Wheelers, Shyam Group and HealthMir offering roles ranging from Strategic Product Management to Healthcare Consulting.

Thus, IIM Rohtak offers a wide variety of choices in summer placement in which the students can get the desired experience in the domain they want to pursue in their careers. This experience helps a lot in converting the final placement in that specific domain. IIM Rohtak continues to live by its philosophy of promoting excellence in the managerial education and summer training is focused on by the Placement Office as a learning curve for the students.
