One should never ever fake anything while mentioning anything in the resume as well as speaking during the interview since the interviewers who have several years of experience in interviewing students can easily catch the bluff.

The final placement season of batch 2018 - 2020 has already begun at SIES College of Management Studies. It generally starts from September and goes on till March. However, the bulk of the companies for recruiting start coming from October. As of now, around 60 - 70 companies have visited our campus and have already recruited around 180 - 200 students out of the total 360 who have shown an interest in being a part of the placement processes, across various domains. Among these domains, IT, Real Estate, FMCG, Banking, Consultancy, and Financial Services have been the most prominent ones.

This year, from my course i.e. AIMA PGDM, 40 students are already placed out of the total batch of 64. As traditionally has been the case at SIES, the real estate firms and banks have been the major recruiters for my batch this year as well. Some renowned recruiters are Lodha, Xanadu, Dwello, Square Yards, HDFC Bank, Deloitte USI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, etc. The average package bagged by the placed students so far has been roughly Rs 6-7 Lakh whereas the highest package offered so far has been roughly ten Lacs.

Coming to the questions asked during the interview processes, they have varied from many fields such as the summer internship, work experience (if applicable), projects undertaken while in college and/or outside, situation-based, and so on. Even the traditional questions such as “Tell me about yourself”, “Why MBA”, “Mention the strengths and weaknesses”, “Why did you apply for this company and role”, implementations of the classroom learnings in real-life business scenarios, etc. were asked quite frequently.

To answer such questions, one must be thorough with all the fundamentals of marketing and business terms and answer them in a crisp yet simple way. One should never ever fake anything while mentioning anything in the resume as well as speaking during the interview since the interviewers who have several years of experience in interviewing students can easily catch the bluffs which will backfire big time upon the student.

One major challenge faced by many students (including me) in the interview processes of a company are the expected topics asked in the GDs and the technical PI round wherein the panellists try to grill the student by putting him under a lot of pressure. In such a case, the student has to give his/her best irrespective of personal anxiety, fatigue, and the immense competition around. The most difficult amongst these rounds for me is the PI. So I would strongly recommend one to never fake anything during the interview as it can adversely affect your chances of getting selected.
