The admission policy of IIM Sambalpur differes from course to course. Candidates seeking admission in IIM Sambalpur MBA must have a graduation degree from any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved category) from a recognised University and they need to appear for CAT and match the IIM Sambalpur cutoff to become eligible for further rounds of selection. IIM Sambalpur conducts a PI round for candidates who gets shortlisted after CAT.

For admission to Executive MBA course of IIM Sambalpur the candidate should have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in any area of study with a minimum of 50% aggregate. The Utkal University admission process for the year 2023 has been completed. The admission process for UG & PG courses usually begins every year in April. Around the same timeline, the university releases an official notification on its website. With the registration portal activation, the admission procedure also commences for the academic year. For Utkal University 2024 admissions, the procedure is also expected to commence in the first or second week of April.

• Candidates who meet the cutoff must participate in the OJEE counseling and give preference to Fakir Mohan University, Balasore.

The total seats offered for MBA/PGDM at Gandhi Institute For Technology and SOA University - Siksha 'O' Anusandhan are 360 and 330, respectively. While Gandhi Institute For Technology offers this course in 2 specialisations, SOA University - Siksha 'O' Anusandhan offers the same in only 1 specialisation. Hence, there are higher chances of getting a seat at Gandhi Institute For Technology due to higher seats.
