MICAT 2023: Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, has commenced the registration for second phase of MICAT 2023. Last date to apply for MICAT 2 is set as January 16, for the exam to be held on January 28. Candidates can check the event schedule and apply online on the official website (mica.ac.in). MICAT registration for the first exam phase closed on November 21 under the revised schedule. Candidates who had applied for MICAT I can download the hall ticket from November 30. Candidates are allowed to appear for two phase of MICAT exam for PGP admission. The best of two scores will be considered for selecting candidates. Applicants will be allowed to appear for the exam on December 3. The final results of MICAT 2023 are prepared based on the candidate's cumulative performance in the national level entrance exams, MICAT and GE-PI. Candidates who will appear for both the exam phases got their best score considered for the GE-PI shortlist preparation.

What is MICAT?

MICA Admissions Test (MICAT) is the online entrance test for MICA's flagship course Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C). MICAT is a unique MBA entrance exam that involves both objective and subjective questions. Along with the common sections of the MBA entrance exams like Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability and Reasoning, there are sections like Descriptive Language Test and Psychometric Test. Additionally, candidates need to appear for CAT/XAT/GMAT. MICA, Ahmedabad will announce the selection process and timelines for the academic year 2023-25. MICAT exam is conducted in two phases, i.e. MICAT I and MICAT II. The best scores of the candidates are considered for preparing the shortlist. MICAT 2023 Application Process

MICA Ahmedabad has released the MICAT application form online at mica.ac.in. Candidates can apply for MICAT 2023 by providing personal and academic details. After providing the information,  candidates need to pay an application fee. After completing the registration, candidates will get the MICA ID and password via email to access the candidate login portal.

MICAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria for MICAT 2023 is as follows:

  • Candidates should have appeared or will be appearing in CAT 2022/XAT 2023/GMAT (2021 onwards)
  • They must also have obtained a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • Candidates appearing for final year bachelor's degree examinations are also eligible to apply

MICAT 2023 Admission Process

The entire process of MICAT involves a total of five steps starting from filling the application form to downloading the admit card, followed by taking the test, result and final selection process. Let us check each of the steps in detail.

STEP 1: MICAT application form

To apply for MICAT, candidates need to fill the registration form on the official website and pay INR 2,100. After successful registration, aspirants will receive their MICA ID and MICA password via email. This MICA ID is to be used for all future correspondence and login purposes.

STEP 2: MICAT admit card

The admit card for MICAT 2021-22 has been issued to the candidates who completed the registration process before the deadline. Applicants are required to download their admit cards from the official website, i.e. mica.ac.in.

STEP 3: MICAT 2023 exam

MICAT is held twice in a particular admission cycle. The candidates who clear the Psychometric Test will be assessed on the rest of the parameters and examination rounds.

MICAT result 2021-22 will be announced online on the official website. Test takers can check their scores by using their login credentials. Post the result, selected candidates will be invited for GE/PI at various MICA campuses.

STEP 5: Group Exercise/Personal Interview

Shortlisting of GE/PI candidates will be done on the basis of their CAT/XAT/GMAT score and performance in MICAT I and MICAT II.

MICA Selection Process

Admission to MICA Ahmedabad involves MICAT or MICA Admissions Test, which is conducted twice a year. It is not mandatory to appear for both tests. The best of the two scores will be considered for candidates who would take both MICAT I and MICAT II. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the final selection rounds involving GE and PI.   

Step-I: Candidates have to take CAT/ XAT/GMAT exam.

Step-II: Those who have taken any of the above-mentioned exams are eligible for MICAT. In MICAT, all candidates are assessed on the following:

  • Section A: Psychometric Test
  • Section B: Verbal ability, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General Awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking
  • Section C: Descriptive Test

Step-III: GE & PI- Candidates who qualify CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT I & II shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI).

GE & PI Shortlist Criteria

  • Section A of MICAT, i.e. Psychometric Test is a qualifier.
  • Those who qualify in the Psychometric, their relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered basis minimum cut off.
  • Those who qualify Section A based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their performance in Section B of MICAT will be assessed.
  • Thereafter, candidates who qualify for Section B, their performance in Section C will be assessed.
  • Those who clear sections A, B and C will be called for GE/PI at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai

Q: What is the pattern of the MICAT exam?

A: MICAT exam is slightly different from most of the MBA entrance exams. It has three different sections, namely Psychometric Test, Section A (Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness and Divergent-Convergent Thinking) and Section B (Descriptive Test).

Q: How can I pay the MICAT registration fee?

A: Test takers had to pay MICAT registration fee through either net banking, or debit/credit card.

Q: Which specialisations are included in PGDM- C MICA?

A: The programme focuses on Strategic Marketing and Communication and specialisations include Brand Management, Advertising Management, Marketing Research and Analytics, Media Management and Digital Communication Management.

A: Shortlisting of candidates is based on their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT (I or II). The weightage of CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT is 50 per cent each.

Q: What is the basic eligibility criterion for PGDM-C admissions at MICA?

A: Candidates holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent educational qualification in the 10+2+3 system (irrespective of the discipline) from an AIU recognised institute are eligible for the PGDM-C programme.

Q: Does MICA offer scholarships?

A: Yes, MICA offers merit-based scholarships to candidates. Each scholarship amounts up to 25% of the annual fees of the programme.

Q: Do other MBA/PGDM colleges accept MICAT scores?

A: No, the exam is exclusively held for admission to MICA, Ahmedabad. However, candidates can use their XAT, CAT or GMAT score for admission to any other institute.
