MICAT 2023 Syllabus: Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, releases the MICAT syllabus along with the selection process and timeline. Since MICAT is conducted for admission to a specialised programme i.e. PGDM in Communications, the syllabus and exam pattern of MICAT is different from other MBA entrance exams. Apart from Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness and Reasoning, MICA Ahmedabad has included Psychometric Test and Descriptive Test in the MICAT exam. MICAT Syllabus 2023 - Sectional Overview

The MICAT question paper is divided into three sections. Out of the three sections, two are unique to MICAT. Here is a sectional overview of the MICA Admission Test.

  • Section A - Psychometric Test
  • Section B - Descriptive Test
  • Section C - VA, QA, GA and DRC

Given below is the syllabus of all three sections of MICAT 2023.

Section A: Psychometric Test

  • Psychometric Test is the first section of the MICAT question paper. This section is basically a personality test, which tests the candidate’s thought process and problem-solving ability.

  • The candidates have to clear this section first to be able to get evaluated on their performance in the second and third sections.

  • This section of the MICAT exam is usually divided into three sets of questions.

  • In this section, two questions are presented in a form of arguments which they have to analyze and give a rating on the basis of closeness to their personality.

  •  The third question is a set of responses to be rated from 1-6 under the given circumstances.

Section B: Descriptive Test

The syllabus of this section of MICAT is not defined as the questions are asked from a field. This section of the MICAT exam contains three-four descriptive questions like essay writing, story writing and a passage arguing for or against a topic. A set of pictures will be given for candidates to create a story from it. So the candidates must read on current affairs for essay writing and fiction to develop creative writing skills for story writing.

Section C: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness, Divergent-Convergent Reasoning

The syllabus of section C of MICAT includes the same topics as other MBA entrance exams, namely, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness and Divergent-Convergent Reasoning (also known as logical reasoning).

Q: Who prescribes the MICAT syllabus?

A: Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad holds the responsibility to design the MICAT syllabus.

Q: Is there a separate syllabus for MICAT I and II?

A: MICAT 1 and MICAT 2 are completely identical with a difference in the schedule. Thus, the MICAT syllabus for both phases will be similar

Q: Will the MICAT 2023 be conducted from home?

A: No, candidates have to appear for the exam at an exam centre mentioned on the admit card. The exam centre will be assigned depending on the test centre preference filled in the application form.

Q: How many sections are there in MICAT?

A: MICAT 2023 will have three sections, with Psychometric test, Descriptive test and the third section with VA, QA, and DRC sub-sections.

Q: Is there any negative marking in MICAT 2023?

A: Section A and Section B will have no negative marking. Whereas, candidates are penalised with 0.25 marks for every incorrect response in Section C of MICAT.

Q: How many marks are awarded for correct answers in MICAT 2023?

A: Every correct response marked by the candidate in Section C will fetch 1 marks. In contrast, Section A and Section B will be qualifying in nature.

Q: Will there be any sectional time limit in MICAT 2023?

A: Yes. Candidates need to complete all three sections within a specified time limit. However, sub-sections in Section C will have no time limit.

Q: What are the type of questions in MICAT?

A: MICAT will have objective type questions in Section A and Section C. Section B of MICAT 2023 will be a descriptive test with a subjective question type format.  

Q: IS the MICAT syllabus and test structure similar to any other MBA entrance exam?

A: No. MICAT syllabus and the test pattern is uniquely designed with descriptive test and psychometric test. Other competitive exams for MBA/PGDM will not have such sections.

Q: Which section of MICAT is the toughest?

A: Section A and Section B are the easiest as these are qualifying in nature. Whereas, Section C will have questions analysing the competitive skills of the candidates. Additionally, Section C will have negative marking; making it toughest among all the sections

Q: Will MICAT 2023 syllabus change?

A: MICA Ahmedabad has not released the details for MICAT 2023. Candidates can study as per the syllabus from previous sessions.
