MICAT exam has three sections. All three sections have an indifferent marking scheme and pattern. All sections of MICAT does not have a negative marking. Section-A, Psychometric Test, is a qualifier test and does not have any negativbe marking. Similarly, Section-B, that is a Descriptive Test, does not have a negative marking. Negative marking of 0.25 marks prevail in the Section-C. Candidates marking an incorrect response in the thirkd section will lead to a deduction of 0.25 marks. Therefore, candidates are recommended to only choose an answer option in Section-C if they are sure of the answer. Guess work in Section-C may lead to decrease in the overall MICAT score.

MICAT 2026 Syllabus: Psychometric Test

Psychometric Test is the first section of the MICAT question paper. This section is a personality test, which tests the candidate’s thought process and problem-solving ability.

The candidates have to clear this section first to be able to get evaluated on their performance in the second and third sections.

This section of the MICAT exam is usually divided into three sets of questions.

In this section, two questions are presented in a form of arguments which they have to analyze and give a rating on the basis of closeness to their personality.

MICAT Psychometric exam has a total of 150 questions. Candidates may or may not answer all the questions. Psychometric Test is a qualifier exam. Candidates who do not answer all questions in the Psychometric Test may not get the section evaluated. Performance in the Psychometric test is not included while merit preparation for final selection. However, candidates who do not pass the Psychometric test are not considered for evaluation in the subsequent section of the MICAT exam. MICA will evaluate the candidate's readiness for the programme based on his/her responses in the Psychometric Test. Therefore, passing the Psychometric Test is crucial to get admission based on MICAT. One must answer all the questions in the test.
The Psychometric Test is a preliminary test to assesses a candidate's behavioral and psychological traits before their aptitude is assessed in the MICAT exam. The goal of this section is to determine whether a candidate is good fit for the programme offered by the institute. The questions in this section may have two options among true or false. Alternatively, candidates may find questions that have four options. Answers marked by a candidate in each question will help analyse candidate's readibility to pursue the course from MICA.
The psychometric section of MICAT is not a pass/fail test. However, candidates who do not perform well in this section will not be evaluated for further sections of the MICAT exam.
MICAT Syllabus 2026: Descriptive Test
MICAT 2026 syllabus for the Descriptive Test is not defined as the questions are asked from a field. This section of the MICAT exam contains three-four descriptive questions like essay writing, story writing and a passage arguing for or against a topic. A set of pictures are presented on the MICAT question paper for candidates to create a story out of it. The candidates must read current affairs for essay writing and fiction to develop creative writing skills for story writing.

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, conducts MICAT exam in two phases every year. Candidates can appear for either of the exam phase or both the exam phases. MICA is assess the performance of all the test takers based on the best of two scores. However, candidates appearing for both the exam phases will have to apply for the exam twice by paying the application cum examination fee. MICAT exam pattern for both first and second phase remains the same. Therefore, one can prepare for both the exam phases at once.
The duration of the MICAT exam may change from year to year. MICA, Ahmedabad, does not specify all the details of the MICAT exam pattern. However, based on the previous year's trends MICAT exam will have to be completed within a time frame of 135 minutes. These 135 minutes are divided across three sections, that is Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test, and Aptitude Test. Additionally, candidates need to take the section in the prescribed order only. Based on the previous year's exam analaysis, there were a total of 70 questions in the Aptitude Test of MICAT exam. These 70 questions were divided into four sub sections in the following weight:
