Symbiosis Institute of Design was established in 2006 as a constituent college of Symbiosis International Deemed University. SID College offers UG and various other courses to students in four different disciplines with eight specialisations. These courses are provided across Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, and various other streams. SID Pune is accredited with A Grade by NAAC and is approved by UGC. Yes, SEED is compulsory for admission to the BDes programme at Symbiosis Institute of Design. Passing the exam followed by Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction rounds is necessary. At the UG level, the college offers a four-year BDes course in four major disciplines namely Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, and Fashion Communication. Communication Design is offered in four specialisations namely Graphic Design, Video Film Design, Animation Film Design, and User Experience Design, and Industrial Design is offered in two specialisations namely Product Design and Interior Space Design. SID conducts Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) for shortlisting aspirants for BDes course. SEED is an online proctored test conducted for a duration of 60 minutes comprising 60 questions. The questions could be MCQ, match the columns, fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension based. The paper will contain a mix of questions related to visual sensitivity and judgement, observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities, problem solving, basic knowledge of logic of Science and Mathematics, art, craft and culture, design and environment. Candidates who qualify SEED will be called for further rounds of selection. The final selection is based on Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialisation.
