Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), one of India’s premier business schools, successfully hosted the India Study Program 2025, welcoming students from FH Vorarlberg, Austria. This immersive 10-day program provided a unique opportunity for international students to explore India's cultural, social, and business landscapes while engaging in thought-provoking discussions on sustainability, diversity, and leadership.
Experiential Learning and Cultural Immersion
The program combined interactive sessions with BIMTECH’s experienced faculty, cultural immersion activities, and field visits to significant locations, including:
- Aravalli Biodiversity Park (ABP), New Delhi – to understand environmental sustainability.
- Protsahan India Foundation – a gender and child development initiative.
- Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal – to explore India’s historical heritage.
Students also participated in meditation and yoga sessions, which complemented their academic learning with hands-on experiences.
Academic Insights and Leadership Development
The structured curriculum featured lectures on sustainable business practices, the role of Ayurveda in holistic wellness, and environmental challenges. Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH, highlighted the program’s impact, stating:
“The India Study Program 2025 has been a remarkable journey of cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue. Through this initiative, our guests have not only gained academic insights but also first-hand exposure to India's vibrant traditions and progressive steps in sustainability and development.”
Community Engagement at SCORE Livelihood Foundation
A key highlight of the program was a visit to the SCORE Livelihood Foundation interventions in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Fourteen students and two faculty members from FH Vorarlberg engaged in cross-cultural discussions and interacted with local communities to understand sustainable development challenges in water management, agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.
Students also explored:
- Khajaraha village (Babia) and Ghughava village (Badagaon Block) – to understand rural development initiatives.
- Climate and Applied Forest Research Institute, RISE-Jhansi Incubation Centre, and Lakshya Community Radio Station – to gain insights into climate action and community-driven change.
- One-night homestays with Indian families – offering a firsthand experience of local traditions and hospitality.
Global Collaboration for Sustainability Goals
During the final reflection session, students from both institutions discussed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasized the importance of global collaboration in addressing climate change. The program concluded with a visit to Dilli Haat, where participants explored India’s rich handicrafts and cultural diversity.
