This initiative was part of the Government of India's Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, aiming to promote cleanliness and health within the community.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya organized the “Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir,” a health camp that provided essential medical services free of charge to the institute's Safai Mitra (housekeeping staff) and their families. This initiative was part of the Government of India's Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, aiming to promote cleanliness and health within the community.

Comprehensive Medical Services Offered

The health camp served a total of 80 participants, including 51 housekeeping staff, 17 non-faculty members, and 12 faculty and their families. Dr Vinita Sahay, the Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, along with key faculty members, coordinated the event to ensure a smooth operation. A dedicated team of 12 medical professionals, including specialized doctors—a gynecologist, a general physician, an eye specialist, and a dentist—offered consultations to attendees.

Thorough Health Screenings Conducted

Participants underwent comprehensive health screenings, which included checking vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, and SpO2 levels. Additional lab tests, including Random Blood Sugar (RBS) and Complete Blood Count (CBC), were conducted, and ECGs were available for those needing cardiovascular assessments. Medicines prescribed during consultations were provided free of charge.

Positive Feedback from Participants

The housekeeping staff expressed gratitude for the initiative. One participant remarked, "We are thankful to receive such care and attention. The doctors were very attentive; they listened to my concerns regarding tooth pain and offered me medicine."

Promoting Health Awareness through Government Schemes

The camp also promoted government health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, aimed at raising health awareness among participants. This initiative reaffirmed IIM Bodh Gaya's commitment to the well-being of its community and aligns with the broader goals of health and social responsibility under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017.

The “Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir” health camp not only provided essential medical care but also emphasized the importance of health awareness and community support, reinforcing IIM Bodh Gaya's dedication to social responsibility and the welfare of its staff and their families.
