1.IITs:

Very low chance with this score in the general category. Only possible via preparatory courses or interdisciplinary programs (very rare and limited). If you belong to SC/ST/PwD, you may have a chance in lesser-known IITs or special programs.

2. NITs:

Top NITs (Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal) – Unlikely. Lower-ranked NITs (e.g., NIT Meghalaya, NIT Arunachal) – Possible in spot rounds or for less preferred specializations. Branch shift may be an option later if you get admitted.

3. IIITs:

Some IIITs like IIITDM Kurnool, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Nagpur may accept such scores depending on the year and competitions.

Yes, it is possible to get M.Tech admissions with low GATE scores. However, it depends on certain factors, such as category, low cutoff drops in spot-counselling rounds. If you are aiming for NITs, then newly established NITs can be a good option.

With a GATE 2025 score of 445 in EE, you have a good chance of getting into some IITs, but it's difficult to predict which ones specifically without knowing your rank and the specific programs you're interested in.

  • A GATE score of 445 is a good score, but you'll need to consider your All India Rank (AIR) to determine your eligibility for specific IITs.
  • Top IITs like Bombay, Delhi, and Madras typically have higher cutoffs, while newer IITs might be more accessible.
  • You should also consider the specific M.Tech programme you are interested in, as different programs within an IIT may have varying cutoffs.

However, the expected minimum GATE score (on the basis of past year cutoff trends) is 710 to 750+. This is the cutoff score for top branches like CSE, and ME. While VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) does not publicly release specific GATE score cutoffs for M.Tech Computer Science, a general understanding is that a good GATE score, along with a strong academic record, is highly beneficial for securing admission.
