Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
Avoiding Accreditation of the college
The accreditation of the BEd college is the most important aspect to check. Many students often miss this point. It is important to ensure that the BEd college you are going to choose is accredited by the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education). This will ensure that the BEd subjects are as per the standards. If your BEd college is not accredited, recruiters or educational institutions might not recognize your degree.

Not Checking the Placement Records
The TS EdCET counseling process is conducted to get the qualified candidates enrolled in the BEd course in colleges across Telangana. The entire process starts with eligible candidates registering for the counselling, paying the fee successfully, and the documents are verified after visiting the college physically. The candidates are allotted a seat, and admission is confirmed after the fee payment and document verification.
Candidates must register on the portal for counselling. They must enter their admit card number, and rank. After paying the fee online, they must book a slot for certificate verification at the preferred centre.
The candidates must carry these important documents: rank card, hall ticket, degree/marks memos, SSC certificate, Aadhaar, caste certificate (if applicable), transfer certificate, and residence proof. Special category candidates need extra certificates.
The result of education is getting placed or getting involved in research activities, in both scenarios are crucial for candidates to ensure that placement records of their college as poor placement records can result in difficulty finding suitable employment after getting the BEd degree. Students are advised to check the college’s placement records, companies that recruit from the college and roles that are offered to graduates after they complete their course.
They must evaluate the college’s career services, further education opportunities, and the success of its alumni network. Students must also check if the college has a dedicated placement cell and if it provides campus placements or not. Limited support for career growth and further studies can restrict the candidate’s professional development.

Ignoring the Course Curriculum
Before getting enrolled in the college, it is strongly recommended to check the course syllabus. Students must check the subjects and theory knowledge they will be getting as well as the practical exposure they will be receiving from the college. If the BEd curriculum doesn’t align with the candidate’s career goals it can disturb their academic and professional development.
-
Faculty Quality
This is one part which cannot be missed at all. The faculty members are the person responsible for our future development. Hence students must ensure that the faculty members at the BEd college are qualified and experienced. This can impact the quality of education and mentorship you will end up receiving.

Infrastructure and Facilities
Infrastructure and facilities play an important role in the overall development of the student. Poor infrastructure can negatively affect the learning journey and overall college life. Students are encouraged to visit the college campus and check the classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other facilities.
-
Reviews and Feedback
This goes without saying. Reviews play an important part in whatever product or services we either purchase or avail. The reviews and feedback help us make meaningful decisions and also give us a first hand of things before. Detailed reviews give us real insights from current students or alumni and ensure that we get detailed information about the college before even being there.
-
Location
The location of the college is also very important when making a choice. A far-off location will ensure that you are always on the commute and will not be able to focus on your studies as you will be tired all the time. College located far away can also increase expenses. Students must consider those colleges that are in proximity to their homes. In case you want to shift to another city or state ensure that the cost of living in that area is low, the area is safe and the availability of necessary amenities like food, public transport, and other resources are within reach.

Rushing towards taking the Decision
It is understood that there are limited seats available in each college and there are also deadlines put by the exam conducting body to do choice filling however, making a hasty decision without proper research can lead to regret and dissatisfaction. Students must take time to research, compare different colleges, and make a well-informed decision aligning with their career goals.
-
Extra Fees
Once you have ensured all the metrics, now it is time to take admission and the first part is the college fee. The tuition fee should be within the limits, low fees might result in compromising on quality education and opportunities and high fees can disturb your budget. While budget is important, balance it with the quality of education, infrastructure, faculty, and placement opportunities offered by the college. Apart from the regular fee, there are a lot of hidden charges that go missing at first but later on when we realize it, we are already late. Students must ensure that the fee the college is charging is within limits, nor too low, not too high and there are also no hidden charges.
