Q:   What is TS EdCET exam?

Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test (TS EdCET) is conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The exam will be conducted in online mode (Computer Based Test) to offer admissions to candidates in two-year BEd courses offered at the Colleges of Education in the state of Telangana.

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates need to have completed their graduation in any stream  (that is, Arts, Science, or Commerce) to fulfill B Ed eligibility criteria . However, most popular B Ed colleges allow candidates to take part in their admission process for B Ed courses if they have graduated with at least 50-55% aggregate marks at the UG level.
  • Age Limit: There is no age bar for B Ed admissions in most colleges. However, some B Ed colleges' admission process requires candidates to be at least 19 years of age.

The B.Ed syllabus includes theoretical and practical aspects of teaching. The main components of the curriculum are - Pedagogical Theories, Child Development, Child Psychology etc. It also includes additional subjects in the chosen field e.g - English, Science, Mathematics, etc. 

The three kinds of B.Ed offered are Regular, Correspondence and Integrated. It trains to make a career as a government or private school teacher. This course focuses on the initial formal education of upper primary, secondary and senior secondary level teachers.

Yes, you can pursue B.Ed course via online/correspondence program, but the university should be approved by UGC. As per the latest notification, all the online/correspondence programs are considered the same as the regular program, so there isn't any problem while pursuing B.Ed online.
