The Aligarh Muslim University campus covers around 1,155 acres. The campus has a dining hall, a reading room, a common room with indoor games equipment, a library, sports clubs, etc for the students. The university is situated in Doab, between the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, approximately 130 Km southeast of Delhi on the way to the Delhi-Howrah rail route and the Grand Trunk Road.

Aligarh Muslim University is around 2km from the Aligarh Railway Station, and 3.1 km away from the Aligarh Bus stand, making it easily accessible through public transport.

Aligarh Muslim University has 14 hostels for boys and 6 hostels for girls, totalling 20. These halls provide a disciplined and peaceful environment where students can study comfortably. The cluster of hostels at AMU is managed by the Hall of Residence, with each hall functioning as a mini-campus equipped with common rooms, a dining hall, indoor games facilities and sports clubs, libraries, and a reading room. The halls are monitored by high-quality security, overseen by a team of wardens under the administration of the Provost.

The AMU hostels offer their students a sense of belonging and a safe place to reside, which is invaluable to students from distant regions. Hostels like Sarojini Naidu Hall and Sir Shah Sulaiman Halls uphold the ethnic traditions of India, organising events, celebrations, and debates to nurture socio-cultural values among students. Hostel life at AMU is filled with late-night discussions, tea-stalls visit with friends and celebration of events and festivals.

Aligarh Muslim University libraries are recognised under ISO certification. The campus libraries are home to a vast collection of nearly 1.4 million books. AMU library serves numerous students, research scholars, and academics with a wide range of services offered by over 110 college and departmental libraries, including the Engineering College Library, the Medical College Library, the Social Science Cyber Library, and the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Library.  

The library is fully air-conditioned and features Wi-Fi-enabled rooms for accessing e-resources and databases for PG students, interns, and faculty members.

Aligarh Muslim University aims for the holistic development of students that nurtures both mind and body. It has a vibrant sports culture embedded in its roots, supported by top-notch sports facilities. Modern infrastructure facilities, such Gymnasium with standard equipment, Synthetic courts, and Dormitories, international-level equipment are available under university premises. Most of the events related to sports are managed by the UGC on the campus to allow seamless sports.
