School of Economics and Commerce, CMR University offers admission to PhD programme based on scores in entrance test conducted by the university. The PhD entrance examination comprises two papers-General Aptitude & Research Methodology and  domain-specific subject as studied at the postgraduate level. Both the papers consist of 60 multiple-choice questions and the time allotted for each paper is one hour.

Candidates who have passed a master’s degree or a professional degree with at least 55% aggregate (50% aggregate for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL) or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale are eligible to apply for PhD programme.  Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% aggregate can also apply.

School of Engineering and Technology, CMR University conducts an entrance exam to select candidates for PhD course. Candidates with M.Phil degree from a recognised university are exempted from taking the entrance examination, if the degree has been obtained on or after July 11, 2009. Selected candidates are further called for a personal interview round. 

Aspirants must complete a master's degree with at least 55% aggregate (50% aggregate for SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled and other categories of candidates) or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale to apply for the School of Architecture, CMR University PhD programme. Candidates must hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission.

School of Economics and Commerce, CMR University admission to PhD programme is based on an entrance test conducted by the university. Selected candidates are further called for a personal interview round. The exact date, time and venue of the exam is communicated to each shortlisted candidate. School of Legal Studies, CMR University admissions are entrance-based. The university conducts CMRUAT every year in online mode. Candidates seeking admission in the School of Legal Studies can appear for the entrance exam. Aspirants can also get admission in BA LLB (Hons)/ BBA LLB (Hons) and LLM based on CLAT scores.
