B.Sc. (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics) - Batch of 2019
5.0
Good infrastructure and supportive faculty, but limited industry exposure in Biotechnology.
Placements: B.Sc. Biotechnology, 2019-2022 batch, Garden City University, Bangalore. Bharat Biotech, Cipla, Med Genome, Stand Life Science, and Life Cell recruited. Lab Technical, Research Assistant, Bioinformatics Analyst, and Microbiologist roles were offered. The highest salary was around Rs. 18,000 per month, and the lowest salary was Rs. 12,000 per month. 40-50% got internships in science related to the biotech programme.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, lab, classroom, library, canteen, and security were good, with 24/7 guards, and CCTV coverage with a biometric system was available. There was housekeeping, laundry support, and hot water for bathing. Individual lockers for valuables were provided. The hostel mess offered multiple meals daily.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful with studies and friendly too. Their teaching quality was good with a balanced focus on both theoretical concepts and practical knowledge. This course covered important subjects like Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Genetics. Exams were not difficult. 35% is the pass percentage.
Other: I chose B.Sc. Biotechnology, because I was interested in Science research and Biology. The best things about the course were the hands-on laboratory, which helped in understanding concepts through real experiments rather than just theory. More skill-based and certification programs, and a greater focus on research projects and innovation can be improved.

Really good infrastructure and faculty members.
Placements: I don't have knowledge about that. The highest salary is 1.5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is Rs 15,000 in my course according to me. Our college also helps the students to showcase their talent and improve their skills so that they can get a job accordingly.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is well-managed and everything is working. The hostel is also good and they clean every once and week. Food quality is also very good. Sports are also considered in our college. All the facilities are provided which are required for the students.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable, very kind, as well as helpful. The course curriculum is very relevant. It makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult. They give questions about what they teach. The pass percentage is upto 85%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in life science subject. They can improve more practical teaching rather than theory. Cannot complain about events. The college organizes various events and also various clubs are available.

Garden City University has 50+ programs across the world and 500+ recruiters for placements.
Placements: Hi, my name is Rohith Kanagala. I have studied at Garden City University as a B.Sc. Biotechnology student. When I was in my final year, placement selection started. There was an eligibility requirement, i.e., we had to score a minimum of 60% in the last semester. But anyhow, we got a placement for an internship at Medicode with a stipend of 5,000 per month. I'm very happy with that.
Infrastructure: When it comes to infrastructure, it is very good. First, I need to tell about the library because the way they designed it is awesome. For computers, they kept a separate lounge, and for books, they kept a separate area with a calm environment. In the classrooms, there are tables and LED boards that are well maintained. The food court is also good.
Faculty: The faculty is very good. They are very supportive. When we have any doubts about subjects, they help a lot. The normal faculty is also very good. The curriculum is good. We used to write exams twice in a semester—one was conducted by our college and the second was conducted by the government. At the time of examination, it was strictly enforced.
Other: I chose this particular college because one of my seniors was studying here. He suggested to me that this is one of the finest colleges in Bengaluru with lower fees. When I compared it with other colleges, I felt good. My batch is very fun. In the beginning, I thought about how to survive because I am a Telugu guy, actually. So in the journey, we created so many memories. In the end, I was not able to leave them. The campus is not crowded. The campus is very near to Old Madras Road. Every week, the campus conducts some activities.

This college faculty members are good.
Placements: This college provides placements but the company's which comes to the college, but provide a low salary.
Infrastructure: This college will provide a hostel, and the hostel is good. In the hostel there is single sharing, two sharing, and three members sharing when comes to food it is better, there is canteen, sports, students an go and when they have free time. Students can use the gym but they have to pay a fee separate for this.
Faculty: It is based on the course which students are studying in B.Sc. the forensic science, and the pass percentage is good.
Other: The events will be held every week like any extra curriculum activity.

It is a good university having good faculty.
Placements: Many companies offer job opportunities in our college. They provide the best jobs in the city to the students who got selected in the selection panel. More than 50 companies visited the university for placements. They assure you with the right job which you are looking for.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good. Labs are well-advanced. Wi-Fi facility is also provided on the campus. The library is well-equipped with all the latest editions. Games room and gym are also available on the campus. Many cocoanut trees are available on the campus.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and possessed with profound knowledge in the subject and essential technical expertise. They are very friendly with students and always approachable for doubt clarification. They also accompanied us to various industrial trips that were planned to enhance our knowledge of the subject.
Other: Events organised by our college are freshers, i.e., a fest organised exclusively for freshers, annual college fest named as Gardenia, International Gardenia, i.e., a fest dedicated to the international students of the institution, new year's eve, teacher's trove, events pertaining to different states of India and various international students, hostel day, i.e., an event dedicated to hostel students, Republic day and independence day celebration.

Superficially good. Dissatisfied due to classrooms and lab. Management is really bad.
Placements: A maximum of 8 students out of 90-100 students were placed from each department. The highest salary offered was Rs. 15,000 per month. Only BHM and BBA students went for internships. There is a placement cell, but it is not efficient. Companies like Jockey, Aditya Birla, Peter England, Cello etc., come for placement.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi, but its range is very less. One has to sit right under the modem to get a connection. The classrooms are fine just for the management department. Science department classrooms are ancient, and labs are not well-equipped with very few instruments available, that can be sufficient for a batch of 10 students. We can adjust regarding the classrooms, but labs need improvement. The library is fine and has a huge number of books, and its infrastructure is also good, but one drawback is that the library is right above auditorium and neither of them are soundproofed, so it gets difficult to study when some programme is going on. The mess food is healthy and is a balanced diet. Canteen food is also good. Hostel rooms are really small, and there is no ventilation. The windows are permanently closed. The mess is a little far from the hostel, so it sometimes gets difficult to reach the mess if it's raining. The girls hostel is in the college campus only. So, whoever stays there cannot roam in the hostel cum college campus because the college has both students and teachers. The football ground, basketball ground and gym are available, but they charge money for those even when it was not clearly mentioned in the college voucher.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are highly qualified and very helping. Though a few teachers have a PhD, they don't teach up to the mark. Usually, teachers use powerpoint presentations, and a few use marker board and the rest use both. The teacher-student ratio is approximately 3:20. Science department got very less industrial exposure, but management people got a lot. They went to SEBI for an industrial visit, and science people went to horticulture research centre. Journalism students went to neuro hospitals. Industrial visits were helpful.
Other: Garden city college celebrates a day of each state or region. For e.g., Bihar Day, Western Belt day, etc. One yearly fest called Gardenia is conducted. The campus is small and beautiful, and the crowd is not much. A lot of extracurricular activities are there like NCC, club activity, etc.

Afterall, it is all about getting placed. I wouldn't recommend GCU to anyone.
Placements: As far as I remember, a few people got placed at the end of their courses. Most of them were from the hotel management stream. Rest of them got jobs from the pool campusing. In 3 years of GCU, never witnessed a single good company walk through the main gate. So, apart from BHM expecting placements after getting your degree from GCU is like witnessing a flying pig.
Infrastructure: The best part of the campus is the library, I must say. And the medical facility is quite good. It's a heaven for the basketball enthusiast. Other facilities here are not very good. I wish I could say something good about the laboratories. The classrooms here are below average. The hostel facilities are also quite good.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are very helpful but not everyone ( you can't expect cooperation from some of them when it is most needed). The teachers are qualified enough. The student to the faculty ratio is nearly 50:1, and in the lab, it is 25:1. I never got any industrial exposure here in 3 years. In the long run, I hope the course curriculum will be useful.
Other: Now, the best thing about GCU is its fest life. It's extravagant, really gives you a good exposure for your extracurricular activities.
