Aspirants need to complete BE/ BTech degrees in relevant specialisation with required aggregate to apply for the HBTU Kanpur M.Tech programme. Candidates also need to qualify for GATE or CUET-PG for admission to any of the M.Tech specialisations.

HBTU Kanpur offers a two-year M.Tech course spread across four semesters. Candidates can apply for M.Tech after completing graduation. Below are some of the M.Tech specialisations offered at HBTU:

Candidates not eligible for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering can also choose less competitive BTech branches based on their ranks to improve their chances of getting a seat at HBTU. 

Harcourt Butler Technical University accepts JEE Main scores, followed by JoSAA Counselling for admission to the BTech course. In 2024, the cutoff ranged between 38255 and 89966 for BTech.

HBTU JEE Main cutoff 2024 was released for BTech specialisations. The cutoff was released for different categories belongong to the All India quota. For the General AI category candidates, the closing ranks were between the range of 38255 and 89966. The NTA has released the exam dates for the JEE Main 2025 Session 2. Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will be administered on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2025. Paper 1 will be administered only in the second shift on April 8. The Session 2 registration is closed, and the last date to apply was February 25, 2025. The applicants are requested to download their city intimation slip, to be released in the third week of March, and admit cards, to be available three days prior to the exam date, from the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

To get admission to HBTU for BTech specialisations, candidate must attain the neccessary rank in JEE Main. The last round closing ranks for JEE Main were between the range of 38255 and 89966, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering remaining the first choice among the students belonging to the General AI quota. For the OBC AI category candidates, the last round closing ranks varied between 65864 and 143891, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering has the most competitive rank.

JEE Main Registration 2024 session 2 last date was March 4. NTA released JEE Main 2024 Application form session 2 on February 2. JEE Main Application form 2024 session 2 was available online on the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in. Candidates who have applied for JEE Main 2024 session 1 had not register again. Such candidates only need to fill the paper details (BE/BTech or BArch/BPlan) and pay application fees. JEE Main 2024 registration last date session 2 was March 4.
