CLAT Application Form 2022 -  The Consortium of NLUs will begin CLAT 2023 online application process from August 08 onwards. Candidates will be able to apply for CLAT 2023, for admission to the 5-year integrated and one-year LLM courses offered by the 22 participating NLUs. These NLUs offer a combined intake of 2,644 seats for the integrated program, and 914 seats for the program.

The CLAT 2023 exam will be conducted on December 18, 2022, in a pen-paper based test mode. Candidates who have submitted the application forms successfully will only be issued CLAT admit cards

Candidates needed to check the prescribed eligibility criteria before filling up the application form. Candidates could select their course i.e. 5-year LLB or one-year LLM programs while registering for the exam. To fill out the form, the candidate has to get registered, fill in personal, academic, and contact details, upload documents and pay the fee. CLAT exam fee is INR 4,000 for General and INR 3,500 for SC, ST, and BPL categories.  

Key points related to CLAT 2022-23 Registration

  • Eligibility: The CLAT 2022 eligibility criteria are program-specific. Those seeking admission to the 5-year integrated law program need to secure a minimum of 45 per cent marks in class 12, while one-year LLM aspirants must have passed a bachelor's law degree with at least 50 per cent marks.  
  • Mode of application: The CLAT 2022 application process is online. Registration, form filling and fee payment is to be done in online mode only.
  • How to pay the CLAT application form fee: The fee has to be paid in ONLINE mode using net banking, credit, or debit cards.
  • Data entered in the application form: Every detail entered in the CLAT application form will be verified at the time of counseling and seat allotment. Entered data will be cross-checked with original documents. In case of any discrepancy, the candidate may be disqualified. So, enter only genuine and verifiable information.
  • Test center selection: A maximum of three exam centers can be selected; the entries must be in the order of priority. Details of the allotted exam center will be mentioned on the CLAT 2022 admit card.
  • Submission of more than one application: In that case, only the last application will be considered. Also, fees paid for previously filled forms will not be refunded.:

Requirements for filling CLAT Application Form 2023

Before you begin with the CLAT application process, keep the below-mentioned items ready: 

  • A working email ID and mobile number
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  • ID and address proof (Aadhaar Card/Driving License/PAN Card, etc.)
  • Scanned Passport size photograph (Format: JPEG)
  • Scanned signature (Format: JPEG)
  • Category certificate if applying under SC/ST/OBC category
  • Relevant certificate issued by a competent authority if applying as PwD or BPL candidate

How to fill CLAT Application Form 2022-23?

The registration process of CLAT 2022 is online. Also, the registration window is the same for both the UG and PG candidates. The candidate can select the program of study at the time of filling the application form. The step-wise process to register and fill the CLAT 2022 application form is described below.  

Step 1 - Online Registration:

  • Click on the registration link given above
  • You will be redirected to a registration window
  • Click on the "Register" button
  • A registration form will open where you will have to enter registration details like name, mobile number, email id. Also, select and confirm a password for the candidate account.

Step 2: Fill the CLAT Application Form

To access the application form, you need to log in to the account using your phone number and password. Once you log in, you will see the following screen.    

Proceed to fill the form.

  • Select the program of study - You have to select the Under Graduate (UG) 5 Year LLB Course or Post Graduate (PG) 1 Year LLM Course. Then press the "Apply for CLAT 2022" button.
  • Personal - In this section, you will have to upload a photograph and your signature in jpeg/png format. Other details that have to be entered include the date of birth, mothers' and father's name, gender, nationality, All India Category under which admission is sought (SC/ST, OBC, or General). Reserved category, PwD, and BPL candidates need to upload the relevant certificate. Finally, mention the domicile state.
  • Communication - In this section, enter your present and permanent address. 
  • Qualifying examination - Select the qualifying exam from the drop-down menu, enter the name of the board (or university), appearing/appeared or passed, year and month of passing, and percentage. 
  • Exam Centre Preferences - In this section you have to select three exam centers for CLAT 2022 exam. Select Test Center Preference – 1 for the test center with the first preference. Use Test center Preference – 3 for the least preferred exam center. The CLAT 2022 exam will be conducted in 82 test centers.
  • Reservation - The candidate in this section can select categories individually for each NLU. Those candidates who want to apply under additional categories can use this section.

Step 3: Submission of the Application Form

Ensure that the various sections of the CLAT application form are duly and correctly filled. Note that all the details will be checked at the time of counseling registration, and any mismatch can lead to disqualification. Once you are satisfied that the application is complete in all respects - 

  • Agree to the declaration form
  • Select the Third Party Communication Details Agreement and Give your consent
  • Submit the form.

Once you agree to the agreement, give your consent and submit the application form, the following page will appear.

Step 4: Pay CLAT Application Fee

After submitting the application form, the candidate has to pay the application or exam fee, which is category-specific. Candidates can pay the application fee in online mode using (debit card/credit card/net banking). The mode of application fee payment is online.

CLAT 2022 Application Correction Window

Candidates could update their reserved category status for CLAT 2022 before May 30. The Consortium of NLUs has closed the facility for updating test centre preferences. To update their categories, candidates could follow the steps to edit CLAT application as under:

  1. Click on the application correction link
  2. Login using mobile number and password
  3. Click on the Edit Application button
  4. Go to 'Category and Seat Reservation' for NLU preferences, as well as, Personal details tab for OBC category status, whether Non-Creamy Layer or Creamy Layer
  5. Make the required changes, Click on Next button
  6. Click on the declaration checkbox, and Save to submit the changes

CLAT 2022 seat intake

The 22 participating NLUs will accept only CLAT 2022 scores for admission to their UG and PG courses for the upcoming academic session. The program-wise seat intake is as follows.

  • 5-year LLB program - 2, 644 seats
  • One-year LLM - 894 seats

How to recover the CLAT login password?

In case, candidates forget the password required to login into their registered account, they can recover it by following the steps mentioned below:
  1. Visit the official website of CLAT Consortium
  2. Click on the ‘Forgot Password’ link in the Login window
  3. Enter the registered mobile number and click on ‘Request OTP’
  4. Enter the One Time Password (OTP) received on mobile
  5. Create a new password and proceed to login

CLAT Registration Statistics

Around 60,000 candidates appear in the CLAT exam. In 2021, 70,277 candidates registered for the exam out of which 62,106 appeared. In 2020, out of 75,183 registrations, 59,443 students appeared in the exam. Out of 59,443 appeared candidates, 53,226 appeared for UG, and 6,217 appeared for the PG exam.

CLAT Admit Card 2022

Once the online application process for the exam is over, the Consortium of NLUs will release the CLAT 2022 admit card on the official website of the exam. Candidates will be able to download the admit card by logging into their registered account.

The CLAT admit card will contain all important details about the candidate (such as name, date of birth, gender, photo and signature) and the exam (such as date, time and test centre address). It will be mandatory for candidates to carry the admit card to the allotted CLAT exam centre along with a valid and original photo ID proof. 

The CLAT 2022 will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode. CLAT scores will be used for admission to the following courses. 

  1. 5-year LLB - Currently all the 22 participating NLUs offer the five-year law program.
  2. One-year LLM - This program is offered by only 19 of the participating NLUs.

Q: What is the last date to fill the CLAT 2022 application form?

A: The last date to fill and submit CLAT 2022 application form was now May 9. Apply now following the link given on this page. 
Q: When will CLAT 2023 application form be released?
A: The application dates for CLAT 2023 haven't been announced yet. But the applications will likely commence after the conclusion of the CLAT 2022 exam.
Q: What is new in CLAT 2022?
A: In 2022, there will be two CLAT examinations - CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2023. The Consortium has rescheduled the CLAT 2022 exam, which will now be conducted on June 19 (rescheduled from May 8, 2022).

A: Yes, you can fill the CLAT application form in phases. Each step of the CLAT application form will provide a 'Save' option using which candidates can save the filled-in information. In case, candidates want to exit and complete the application form next time then they simply need to log in again and continue from where they left.

A: The application form same for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You can select your program of study at the time of filling the application form. 

Q: What to do if I forget the password for CLAT 2022 login?

A: In case you forget the password for CLAT login, then you can recover it easily by clicking on 'Forgot Password' link at the bottom of the login window. For recovering the password or resetting the login account, an OTP will be sent on your registered mobile number. You need to enter the OTP and click on 'Reset Account' button to create a new password. 

Q: Is it mandatory to fill the CLAT application form in one go?

A: No, it is not mandatory to fill the CLAT application form in one go. You can login to your registered account anytime you want and can proceed filling the remaining sections of the application form. However, it may be noted that all the steps related to CLAT application process should be complete before the last date of the registration process. 

Q: Do I need to attest the photo and signature before uploading them with CLAT 2022 application form?

A: No, you do not need to attest any document that is to be uploaded at the time of filling the application form for CLAT 2022 exam.

Q: What can be the reasons for the rejection of the CLAT 2022 application form?

A: CLAT application form can be rejected under the following circumstances:
  • Incomplete application form
  • Non-payment of application fee
  • Blur/unclear uploaded photos or documents

Q: Will there be any correction window for CLAT 2022 application form?

A: Usually, the CLAT Consortium does not provide candidates any option of application form correction. However, in 2021, the Consortium opened the CLAT application correction window for candidates to make changes in test cities and name, date of birth, category, if required. 

Q: How will I know if I registered for CLAT 2022 exam successfully?

A: On successful registration for CLAT 2022 exam, you will receive a confirmation email and SMS on your registered email ID and mobile number.

A: No, the candidates can keep the hard copy of the CLAT application form with themselves but they need not send it to the CLAT Consortium office.
