What is GATE Aerospace Engineering?

GATE 2025 Aerospace Engineering (AE) Syllabus
IIT Guwahati has released the Aerospace Engineering syllabus for the GATE 2026 exam, which will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The GATE 2026 AE exam date will be announced soon on the official website- gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The GATE application form 2026 is available from August 28 to September 28 (without late fees) and October 9 (with late fees).

GATE 2026 Aerospace Engineering Allowed Two-Paper Combinations
Candidates opting for aerospace engineering in GATE as the primary subject can opt for the following as their secondary paper in the GATE 2026 two-paper combination.

GATE 2026 Aerospace Engineering Exam Pattern
The GATE AE question paper pattern 2026 can be checked below -
- General aptitude -15 marks

- Total marks of the GATE 2026 AE question paper: 100 marks
The mode of the exam is online, and the duration of the GATE 2025 examination is three hours. The GATE 2026 question paper consists of multiple-choice, multiple-select, and numerical aptitude test-type questions. Each question carries either 1 or 2 marks.
GATE AE marking scheme 2026:
- For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking.
- For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions.
- There is no partial marking in MSQ.
