IMU Kochi BTech is a four-year undergraduate degree course, divided into eight semesters, and offered in full-time mode. Eligibility requirements for admission to BTech:
- Candidates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with an aggregate of 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English in both Class 10 & 12 (a 5% relaxation is given to SC/ST candidates).
- Marital status should be unmarried (Applicable for several IMU Kochi courses)
- Age Limit: For males – General: 25 years, OBC (NCL): 28 years, SC/ST: 30 years; For females – General: 27 years, OBC (NCL): 30 years, SC/ST: 32 years (from the commencement of the academic session).
- Medical & Vision Requirements: Candidates must be medically fit as per the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules. Distance vision (unaided) must be 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the other. Additionally, the applicant must produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.

IMU Kochi BTech admission is based on candidates' achieved scores in IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Tests conducted in CBT mode annually for admission to 6 campuses of the Indian Maritime University (IMU). Further, candidates are required to go through a counselling process conducted by the campus/ university, which will be opened after the release of the IMU-CET rank list.
The campus also offers lateral entry to BTech courses. Furthermore, to enrol in the BTech lateral course, candidates must complete a three-year engineering diploma in Marine/ Mechanical/ Electrical & Electronics with an aggregate of at least 55%. OR a four-year diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering with an aggregate of 50%.
