B.Tech. in Electronics and Biomedical Engineering - Batch of 2026
5.0
Good placements, small campus.
Placements: Placements are pretty good at Model Engineering College compared to other engineering colleges. Electronics and biomedical have low placements compared to other departments. The highest placements in core EBE companies are 20 Lacs per annum, according to my knowledge.
Infrastructure: Model Engineering College has a small campus compared to other engineering colleges. The college has both ladies' hostel and gents' hostel. The college has Wi-Fi, and the labs are also good at the Model Engineering College. A better hands-on experience is provided through labs.
Faculty: All teachers are qualified and skilled. They are also helpful in career building. Semester exams are easy if you study well. It is not that tough to pass an exam if you study well. The pass percentage in MEC is high compared to other colleges.

It is my luck that I got admission in MEC.
Placements: I think about 80% of students got placed by both on-campus and off-campus selection. The highest and the lowest packages were 12 & 8 LPA. Core companies coming were less; many of them were related to the IT field. 40% got internships in many core companies. Clinical engineering and service engineer were the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs were good, but there are not enough resistors and things in the circuits lab. Students need to purchase them at the end of the semester if we broke any one of them. Hostel conditions were bad when I was at the hostel. It's not worth staying there! Stressful.
Faculty: Teaching quality and teachers were so nice. Teaching quality is good. It's better if they provide notes for each subject, which will be helpful during exam time, as KTU notes are not available for this course. Semester exams were good, but the time span of each semester is too short, which makes students struggle to study.
Other: I chose this course as I am interested in both the IT and medical fields.

A glimpse into Government Model Engineering College, Kochi
Placements: Model Engineering College is one of the top colleges in Kerala known for its excellence in academics and the placements. Being a student of the Electronics and Biomedical stream, above 50 percent of the students get placed in various biomedical companies and different hospitals, while the rest choose to pursue their higher education in the field. The highest package being offered is about 10 lakhs per annum and the least being 3 lakhs per annum. Cyrix and Adnox are some of the top recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: The college provides its students with excellent lab facilities that help in nurturing their practical knowledge along with their theoretical knowledge. The biomedical department has excellent lab facilities for their electronics and microprocessor labs too. The hostel facilities provided by the college also have good reviews amongst the students. The quality of food available is also excellent.
Faculty: The teachers and staff in the college are well-educated and qualified people. The knowledge they impart to the students is well beyond what books can actually provide. The course curriculum has a bit more to be improved as it does not equip the students much with industry knowledge. The semester exams in college are not that tough since the teachers equip students with notes and lectures.
Other: The reason for me to choose this stream was that being a medical batch repeater, the course was well aligned with what I wanted to pursue. But coming into this stream, I realized that this course offers more than just what books can offer and the vast amount of chances in the field is also commendable. One thing that I would like to suggest as an improvement is the revision of the curriculum to make it more industry-relevant. The college hosts a lot of events, both technical and non-technical, and provides a wide range of experience with the same.

Good placements, average infrastructure, and average college life.
Placements: Good placement cell is there. Proper training was provided for placement activities but not the training cell of the college. Placement drives (mock) are good. Mostly IT-based companies come for placement. The top recruiting company of my course is GE Healthcare. Internships are available at hospitals and biomedical companies like Cyrix and Adnox.
Infrastructure: WiFi is available and can be utilized at any time. Labs are good and some equipment may be faulty. The halls and auditoriums are of very good infrastructure and quality. The library has quite a collection of textbooks and pyqs. I cannot borrow some of the books though. Ladies hostel is good, good food, good wardens, safe atmosphere, etc. are there. Sports and games take place once in an academic year through selection.
Faculty: Some teachers are friendly and nice, very educated and share beyond the textbook information with us. Few teachers are arrogant and do not accept their mistakes for the sake of their ego. There can be ego clashes within the department faculty as well. Curriculum seems limited and the timespan spent for each module makes the schedule so tight that one can't learn things properly, let alone make them industry-ready. Marks and scoring for subjects depend on the teachers as well.
Other: The college bus facility is not good. They charge a hefty sum and need not run all the time. Quite an obstacle for day scholars who live far to enjoy the college life and extracurriculars.

College is really good because Model Engineering College provides more placements for every branch.
Placements: In biomedical, our college provides average placements. About 50% of students got placements in their 3rd and 4th years. Many top companies are visiting our college. The main objective of the placement process is to identify the talented individuals.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure available such as Wi-Fi. College gives 3 or more Wi-Fi. There are lots of labs such as the idea lab and many others. Hostels are clean and hygienic. The canteen provides different kinds of tasty foods at an affordable price. All equipment is available in classrooms.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They are highly professional. Their teaching methods were really amazing. They know how to manage their students. They share their knowledge and are friendly. We can ask doubts at any time without any fear.

Go to MEC for placements and disciplined study.
Placements: In my course, the percentage of students placed was a bit low compared to CS and EC because software companies are coming. EEE and EBE students usually flock into IT companies. Few PPL who have real interest in studies go for higher study. But when it comes to core placement it mainly depends upon our skills and luck.
Infrastructure: The college has a good hostel for boys with a capacity of 80 students on each floor. The hostel mess is clean and well-maintained, along with a canteen inside the college. In the library, we find most of our academic-related and other books too. The labs are pretty good.
Faculty: The faculty of MEC is good and has considerable teaching experience. The college is under KTU. We can consult our faculty at any time for doubt clearing. There will be two series of exams in each semester. Students can choose this college for proper lectures from teachers and the course is relevant.
Other: Unlike other engineering colleges, MEC is not a big college considering the size of the campus or the number of departments. But being small is the best part of MEC as we have only one building, you get to know a lot of people from every branch.

The faculty and placements set the value of the college while infrastructure needs to be improved.
Placements: More than 50 per cent of students are placed yearly in the Electronics and Biomedical Engineering department. Placements come from predominantly software and biomedical companies. These include Cognizant to Capgemini. The electronics and biomedical engineering students can sit for both software and electronic placement drives according to their skill sets.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not the best compared to other reputed Engineering colleges. The library is above average but not the best. Hostel facilities are not sufficient and are only provided for boys until recently a new girls hostel was built only for first years. More than half of the students go for private hostels and paying guest options.
Faculty: The faculty is qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is relevant. Also, students are encouraged to read extra outside the syllabus relevant to the curriculum. The semester exams are moderately difficult. The pass percentage is always high.

Actually placements, faculty & curriculum are very good. But infrastructure needs to be improved.
Placements: Many big companies offer high salaried placements. About 80% students get placed every year. The highest number of placements are offered in CSE branch. Other branches get good jobs through campus placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure needs to be improved. There is no ladies hostel for the college. Students have to look for other ladies hostel which are not much affordable to everyone. But there are many hostels and PG available near to the college. College buses are also available for everyone.
Faculty: Faculty, curriculum and exams are very good. Teachers are highly qualified and experienced. They gives proper guidance to the students. Electronics and biomedical engineering is a growing field which could offer high chances to the students in the future.
