Other: My college experience has been okay. I live at home so my experience is a lot different than people that live on campus or in off campus apartments. The dorms cost more than tuition and I live a 15 minutes away so it wasnt worth it to me. Two of my friends lived in them and they both ended up moving back home at the beginning of the second semester. They werent what they expected and found them to be difficult living situations Friends: My best friend since preschool also lives at home and that happens to be right down the street from me so I spend a lot of time with her. But I have made a few friends that I hang out with sometimes. Idk if they will be lifelong friends but I have a great time with them, Parties: Im really not into partying so I couldnt really tell you much about the parties at my school. From what I have heard, people throw pretty awesome parties and it seems that is all anyone talks about. Areas of study: I am a biology major and I plan to go to medical school after I graduate. Ill probably go to the medical school in Reno too. Its a pretty good school and SUPER cheap for Nevada residents. Travel: Im going to study abroad next year. Im probably going to spend the year somewhere (that is why Im living at home, to save my money for this) Im really excited :D Teachers: Most of my teachers have been pretty good and I got all A's and B's last year. I did have one awful teacher for Eng 102 and I ended up failing that class (over half my class failed) she was actually not allowed to teach in California anymore because she is such a bad teacher. So i am in summer school now retaking that class and I am getting an A. ratemyprofessors.com will be your best friend when deciding your schedule Interesting Things: I can’t really think of anything. My experience has been very boring. College was a big adjustment for me. I was not used to the amount of work i would have to do. I went to a good I high school that was named one of the top 500 in the country and I still found it to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. The schedule was hard to get used to also. I was used to having 2 hour classes back to back but in college you usually get into whatever class you can when you are a freshman and I ended up with 5 hour breaks in between classes and i was unable to go home because of gas prices and traffic so I had to hang out in the library or nap in my car. If you live on campus its not that bad, but if you dont it is hell. Evening classes were a big adjustment and I hated them. Be sure to remember that this is supposed to be an academic experience, not a social experience. Do not get caught up in partying and social events because it is easy to fall behind and professors do not care about your excuses, you will just fail. With that said, do have somewhat of a social life because you will go insane if your life only consists of school.
