Overall Experience Was Best of My Knowledge: Great Campus Life and Very Good Environment.
Placements: Above 75% of students got placed last year. The highest package offered to students was 18 LPA by Power Grid, while the average package was 9.9 LPA. The top recruiting companies included Vedanta, Tata Projects, Oil, and Power Grid. More than 75% of students secured internships at Tata Projects and Vedanta.
Infrastructure: My department is Electrical Engineering, and we have all possible labs, a library, and classrooms equipped with smart boards and projectors. There is 24/7 Wi-Fi availability in our department. In our hostel, we also have Wi-Fi, a common room for group interactions, various games courts, and a garage. The mess provides good quality food. On campus, there is an NHU (Nerist Health Unit) where a doctor is available 24/7.
Faculty: The teachers in our department are very helpful and qualified, with all of them holding doctorates in their subjects. The course curriculum is relevant and provides various industrial training opportunities for students. They plan trips to visit nearby industries for training. We have exams in one semester, including mid-semester and end-semester assessments. The semester exams are quite tough, requiring a minimum score of 35% to pass.
Other: I chose Electrical Engineering because of my interest in electrical things, and there are great job and placement opportunities in this field. I wish our college had better transportation services and improved practical classes, as some equipment is quite old. Our college holds many events every year, such as the cultural fest called RACAF and the sports event called Synergy, along with various other cultural events. The campus crowd is fascinating, and the connectivity among different departments and classrooms is excellent. The atmosphere of our campus is beautiful, surrounded by greenery that provides fresh air and a pleasant environment. NCC and NSS are additional extracurricular activities available on campus.

Quality education at NERIST.
Placements: In NERIST there is good placement. The maximum placement was 22 LPA. Every year, there are many placements of every branch. This college has a decent placement record, with a significant percentage of students being placed at various companies. It is a good college in the north-east region.
Infrastructure: NERIST offers various courses in various disciplines, including engineering, technology, sciences, and management. The infrastructure for each course typically includes classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids, laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment for practical sessions, and research computer labs with high-speed internet connectivity. They also provide hostels for their students, especially those who come from different parts of the region and beyond.
Faculty: NERIST typically employs a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members across various disciplines. These faculty members hold degrees from reputed institutions and often have industry experience as well. They have many extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS, and others. The examination in this institute follows a structured examination system designed to assess students' understanding of the course material, practical sessions, and overall academic performance.

We can have fun in hostels. Studies depend on you, and the infrastructure is average.
Placements: There were no placements till 2014, and the placement rate has improved from 2015, but the placement cell is still far from decent. PSUs are visiting the campus, but they are not hiring more than 4 students. There is a huge room for improvement. Skill improvement sessions should be included in the course to improve the placement rate.
Infrastructure: Our library is good. Classrooms are decent, and the playground is in very poor condition. Even our old hostels are in very poor condition. Hostel food depends on the mess secretary and his initiative. Some caretakers are suspects of corruption. There were many cases of items stolen from the hostel.
Faculty: A few teachers like Saibal Chatterjee are really good, but there are a few teachers who are really horrible. I would like to see more teacher-student interactive sessions. However, there is a huge room for improvement. Teachers should be more interactive.
Other: Racaf, Shristi and Synergy are the main events that are organised in our college. There is a huge room for improvement as NERIST is a premier institution in northeast India.

A central government college for middle-class students.
Placements: Placements in the college are quite decent. There are no 100% placements, but as a rough estimate, around 40% to 50% of students get placed. Maximum of the students go for higher studies. There were companies like Vedanta, Cummins, OIL, Ethnos, Powergrid, Asahi and many more in the previous year's placements.
Infrastructure: The college has a pretty good infrastructure, but it is old enough to renovate now. There are 3 guesthouses, a library, departmental buildings, i.e. physics, chemistry, and forestry in 1 building, electrical engineering, computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering in 1 building, civil engineering in 1 building, and mechanical engineering in 1 building. There are 10 hostels with various seating capacities. Medical facilities are being provided on the campus, and there is no canteen where we can have food during breaks. There are specific labs for each department and each subject. The labs are well-equipped, but on the negative side, they are very poorly maintained. The classrooms are old and rusty and need renovation. The hostel rooms are good with a proper LAN connection in each hostel. The internet facility is provided from 6 PM till 8 AM. All the buildings are very old and were never renovated, so there must be a renovation of the buildings so that it is well-maintained.
Faculty: The faculty members are always well-versed with the syllabus. The course keeps changing according to the new technologies every 4 to 5 years. Their teaching quality is amazing. The teacher to student ratio in a class is around 1:35, and at maximum, it is around 1:44. Industry exposure in our department is good; we have visited many substations and generating plants during the course. There are 2 project works to be completed before our graduation. The course curriculum is useful.
Other: Many events take place in the college. There will be freshers for each department and each state union as well as general freshers in the odd semesters, and the same amount of farewells are conducted in the even semesters which also include hostel farewells. There are a lot of festivals that are celebrated all over the year by students, like Holi, Puja, Nyokum as well as Bihu. All festivals of all tribes are celebrated by the student community here. The college fest takes place in the odd semester and the technical fest in the even semester. There is sports meet in the even semester, as well as many sports events, are being held throughout the year by the student body. In a nutshell, the college is very active in extracurricular activities. The college is in the countryside due to which the means of transportation is not that smooth. The cost of studying here is very low. The academic fees for a semester can be maximum of Rs. 5,000 and hostel fee is Rs. 12,000 per semester.

NERIST provides everything on a consistent basis.
Placements: Placements are conducted through the college administrative body. T&P cell of NERIST along with student coordinators invites the companies to our college for placements. Companies which are invited to our college have their basic academic criteria as the first round selection is the elimination round. After that, they either conduct the interview directly or short-list on the basis of aptitude test. Companies like TCS and Cummins conducts pool campusing where they invite applications and on the basis of written test conducted for a group of colleges. They shortlist the candidates, and those candidates are called for an interview.
Infrastructure: A broadband connection is provided in the academic building, labs, and hostel for 24x7. Our college has its health unit which provides a free consultation to students and college staff members. Our college has its cafeteria, post office, cooperative shops, sports club, and sports store. Recently, the central library has been inaugurated in our college.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are experienced and nurture the students in two basic steps. They provide students with basics of the particular course along with its real-life application to develop the interest of the subjects, and then they complete the course by providing much technical knowledge. Our course curriculum follows this procedure.
Other: Our college conducts an annual sports week named Synergy. Technical fest named Shristi and cultural fest named Racaf are organised in our college. In addition to these, various seminars and training sessions on both social and technical skills are held.
