VBSPU Jaunpur is a public state university that is a residential-cum-affiliating in nature. Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is recognised by the University Grants Commission. It was established in 1987 and through its affiliated colleges, offers UG, PG, Ph.D. PG Diploma and integrated courses to students. Formerly known as the Purvanchal Institution in Jaunpur, the institution currently goes by the name Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, a former chief minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh. After considering all the specialisations, around 50%-70% of seats are allocated to the candidates who qualify the accepted entrances such as PUCAT, and JEE Main. For UG and PG courses, the CUET exam scores are taken into consideration for admission to fill 50% of seats. For courses such as BTech, JEE Main’s scores are considered to allocate 70% of seats, and the remaining 30% are allocated via the PUCAT exam. Some courses such as BCA and diplomas require the PUCAT exam after the qualification of 10+2.
