VBSPU begins its admission process in March and goes on till April/June, depending on the deadlines. The admission process involves registration via the PUCAT exam online form. Candidates must go through the information brochure, provided on the official website to check for their eligibility. The ones applying for the reservation category must also check for eligibility before the submission of the application. The process involves an entrance test (PUCAT), after which the results are announced and the dates of counselling are issued.

VBSPU Jaunpur admissions are primarily entrance-based. While admission to some of the courses is based on the university-conducted entrance exam, namely the VBSPU Jaunpur Combined Admission Test PUCAT admission to the remaining courses is conducted through national-level entrance exams, including JEE Main UPCET etc. Candidates are only admitted to the university after passing the PUCAT test, which is administered yearly. English is the language of the admission test, which is administered offline. For all programmes, PUCAT is in MCQ style. VBS Purvanchal University, the organisation in charge of organising the test, has established the PUCAT test Pattern and Scoring System.
