In today's ever-changing world, young and dynamic students are seeking career paths that transcend the ordinary. With India poised to assume a respected global leadership position, the timing couldn't be better. Notably, these global events have a trickle-down effect on governments at all levels in India. With 545 Lok Sabha MPs, 250 Rajya Sabha MPs, 4120 MLAs & MLCs, as well as numerous urban and rural representatives, Indian political leaders face their own unique subsets of challenges. India's cooperative federalism structure empowers both states and the central government to legislate on different subjects, while the 73rd and 74th amendments have decentralized governance, transferring key responsibilities to local bodies. To bridge the knowledge and skill gap at all levels, MITSOG offers an exceptional opportunity—a 2-year Master's Programme in Political Leadership & Government (MPG).

The MPG Programme is designed to provide graduates with real-world experiences that integrate the complexities of politics and governance. Divided into four semesters, the first year is spent on the vibrant university campus, immersing students in a multidisciplinary environment. The second year offers invaluable off-campus internships and assignments, allowing students to put theory into practice.

Each subject within the Programme aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of politics and governance—a skill set essential for political leaders. What sets MITSOG apart is its commitment to fostering relationships between students and prominent state and national leaders and officials. By engaging with these veterans, students gain firsthand knowledge and insights derived from years of practical experience. Since the inception of the MPG Programme, around 350 national-level leaders from politics, social services, bureaucracy, judiciary, media, and corporate sectors have actively participated, enriching the learning journey.

The Programme's highlights include off-campus internships and extensive education and training opportunities. These internships can be tailored to focus on students' constituencies or core issues, NGOs, media organizations, or political party offices. By spending a minimum of six months with political party offices or leaders, students gain invaluable exposure and establish themselves firmly in the political sector.

Recognizing the need for flexibility, the Programme implements the principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Students can choose to "exit" after successfully completing all courses in the first year (semester 1 and 2) and receive a Post-Graduate Diploma in Political Leadership (PGDPL).
