The institute invited Associate Vice President & Development, Centre Head, Infosys, Chennai Suryanarayana MS as the Guest of Honour and General President, ISCA, Former VC, University of Mysore & Karnataka State Open University Professor Rangappa KS as the Chief Guest of the event.

Hindustan First Grade College Celebrates its First Graduation Day on January 28

January 29, 2021: Mysuru, Karnataka based Hindustan First Grade College, A unit of Hindustan Group of Institutions recently celebrated its first graduation day at Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza. The institute invited Associate Vice President & Development, Centre Head, Infosys, Chennai Suryanarayana MS as the Guest of Honour and General President, ISCA, Former VC, University of Mysore & Karnataka State Open University Professor Rangappa KS as the Chief Guest of the event.

In his speech to students, Professor Rangappa spoke about the New Education Policy, which seeks to help children develop new skills at the school level. He also said that the policy is highly successful for the 21st century and also aims at enhancing confidence among students to confront the challenges. He also mentioned that the new strategy would guarantee the stability of jobs.

Following students were awarded Dr KCG Verghese Gold Medal for being the subject toppers:

  • Namratha N (BCom 2020 Batch – 5 Gold Medals)
  • Mohammed Shakeel (BCom 2020 Batch – 4 Gold Medals)
  • Pooja N (BCom 2019 Batch – 4 Gold Medals)
  • Om Kishan S Juttur (BCom 2019 Batch – 1 Gold medal)
  • Sanjay Kumar H R ( BBA 2020 Batch – 1 Gold Medal)
  • Harshitha ( BCA 2020 Batch – 1 Gold Medal)

Besides these students, Over 62 eligible students who have cleared the final examination were presented with the course completion certificate.

Dr SN Sridhara Takes Charge as Vice-Chancellor of HITS

January 8, 2021: With effect from January 6, Dr SN Sridhara takes the charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Chennai-based Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS.

He holds a PhD degree and ME in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Besides this, he also holds a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University.

During his 32 years of academic experience, he has guided several scholars through their PhDs and produced more than 150 research papers in reputed international journals and conference proceedings. He has also successfully carried out several research and consultancy projects from government and private agencies.

He was honored by ISTE, New Delhi, and Visvesvaraya Technical University, Karnataka, with the 'Best-Principal' award. He received Rotary International's Vocational Achievement Award as well. He is a life member of esteemed technical bodies such as the India Aeronautical Society, the Combustion Institute (India) and a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).

He was previously the Director at Amity University, Haryana.

HITS Inks MoU with Global Cyber University

December 24, 2020: Chennai-based Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS has recently entered into an agreement with Seoul-based Global Cyber University with an aim to impart quality education and facilitate global exposure to the students of both the universities.

Upon signing the agreement, the president of Global Cyber University Seung-Heon Lee declared that from the first semester of 2021, Hindustan Institute of Technology students will be able to join a Course ‘Brain Education Meditation - Stress Management & Self-Empowerment’ to promote Emotional Wellbeing. This agreement will also promote the international exchange between the two universities.

The Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science is one of the leading engineering universities in India, accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an "A" grade. With a focus on internationalisation, international collaborative research ventures with overseas universities are being systematically carried out aiming at student exchanges.

Korea's Global Cyber University is a state-recognised private university. The university has about 3,000 students and offers brain education through various Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes in both online and offline mode. The University runs the world's only four-year degree programme for brain education, which provides a special and distinct undergraduate curriculum. It is also regarded in particular as the alma mater of BTS, which has placed K-POP at the top of the world.

HITS Announces 100 Scholarships for Wards of Covid Warriors

July 16, 2020: Felicitating the frontline Covid-19 warriors, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS has announced two scholarships -- Adopt a Covid Warrior Ward Scholarship and Covid Frontline Warriors Scholarship. In the first scholarship, selected wards of frontline warriors, who have lost their lives while serving during this pandemic situation, will be offered complete tuition fee waiver. The deemed-to-be University will also cover their boarding and lodging expenses, along with providing them a monthly stipend if they meet the eligibility norms.

The second scholarship is for the wards of doctors, healthcare professionals, government and service personnel, who are serving in these unprecedented times. This scholarship will be provided for a period of two years to 100 such students.

Hindustan Group of Institutions Secures 107th Position In NIRF Rankings 2020

June 16, 2020: Basis the NIRF India ranking released on June 11, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS has secured 107th position in India among 1,071 Engineering colleges that participated, making it among India's top 10 per cent of Engineering institutions. Out of 66 architectural institutions in India, HITS has achieved 20th position. The KCG Technology College was listed among the Engineering institutions in India in the 201-250 band.

The ranking has been decided on the basis of five key parameters – teaching, learning & resources, research & professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception. And, was released in various categories such as Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, and Medical.

Among the deemed universities in India, HITS has achieved the 25th position on the country level, 9th position in Tamil Nadu and 4th position in Chennai in the Engineering category. Institute has also ranked 3rd in India and 1st among the Tamil Nadu Deemed Universities under the architecture rankings of Deemed Universities in India.

KCG College of Technology has secured 38th place in the Engineering category of Tamil Nadu and 13th place in Chennai and now it is counted among IITs, IIMs, Central, State and private universities in India. KCG College stands on the 1st position in Chennai and 3rd position in Tamil Nadu among the Non-Autonomous Colleges Affiliated to Anna University, which were ranked by NIRF.

HITS Develops Service Robot to Assist Healthcare Professionals Amid Coronavirus

April 24, 2020: The Centre for Automation and Robotics of Chennai-based Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS has designed a service robot namely ‘Sevili’ to help healthcare professionals in Tamil Nadu to remotely communicate with quarantined patients through audio or video. Sevili in Tamil means caretaker. The robots have been deployed at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Hospital (RGGH), Chennai. Sevili is capable of delivering food, medicine and other essentials to the isolation ward.

The great minds behind this invention include Professor Dinakaran who is the head of Centre for Automation and Robotics (ANRO) supported by Professor M M Ramya and other faculty of ANRO, research associates Karthick Kumar, Jaise Jose, Rajesh, Sujin, Technical Staff Vinayagamoorthy and Rajasekar, Students of Mechatronics Engineering Lena Sekar, Akash and Sivaprakasam.

HITS Inaugurates Five-Day Data Analytics Programme

November 26, 2019: Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science - HITS inaugurated a five-day winter school programme on Data Analytics and Machine Learning using R and Python. The programme is designed to cater to the needs of mass audience such as students, research scholars, industry professionals and faculty members. It has been designed in association with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Machine Intelligence and Data Analysis Research Center (MIDARC), and Computer Society of India (CSI). MIDARC is HITS’ research centre that facilitates the incubation of ideas and research of various experts.

The programme aims at facilitating jobs profiles such as Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientist to engineering students, working professionals and other learners.

HITS Gets patent for “A Method and a Prior Warning Mixed Mode Communication System for the Natural Calamities”

November 25, 2019: HITS Director Ashok Varghese and Associate Professor Dr Sudalai Muthu were honoured in a felicitation ceremony for obtaining the first patent towards technology that disseminates natural calamities alerts with higher reliability.

Though there are such systems available but they vary from country to country. And, most of them disseminate the alert to the needy and isolated coastal area. This new designed standalone communication system alerts on natural calamities such as cyclone, tsunami, flood, fire and many more. To make this work, towers with AF, FM and Microwave receivers will be installed at every 10-15 Km with siren sound strengthen enough to cover 2-5 km’s of the surrounding.
