Internships opportunities at GLA University
Overview
Internships are one of the most important parts of the curriculum, particularly for engineering and MBA students. It is mandatory for all the students of MBA and engineering to complete a one or two-month internship at the end of their first and third years, respectively, at GLA University. In engineering, a student can also go for an internship at the end of the second year. Companies such as Juspay, Gemini Solutions, Cdk Global, and others visit the campus to recruit students for internships. Most of the students don’t get an internship offer from the university; they themselves need to arrange it as per their convenience and contacts. The students are given proper training sessions so that they can clear their doubts and overcome their challenges (if any) well before the companies start coming for internships and placements.
A few things to consider before applying for an internship in a good organization:
Try to maintain a good grade throughout the semesters (8.0+).
You should have sound knowledge of at least one of the programming languages.
Specifically, for IT branches, companies start visiting with internship/placement offers after the end of the fifth semester only at GLA. Every year, with the assistance of the university's training and placement cell, some students from the CSE and IT branches are able to obtain an offer for a one or two-month internship in a good company.

For all the core branches, only a few seats are available, and it is quite difficult to get a paid opportunity. But if you try to have a discussion regarding this with one or two faculty members, you might end up in a good organisation if your rapport is good.
Most of the time, you only have to search for internship opportunities with the help of your contacts, irrespective of whether you are from IT or a core branch. For an MBA, you may get a decent opportunity, but you will have to take care of your boarding and other logistics. Therefore, it is better to start searching for proper opportunities at the end of the first semester for MBA students and at the end of the fifth semester for Engineering students. The university has collaborations with good organisations such as Safeducate for internships and placements. The stipend amount during an internship may vary from INR 6,000 to INR 12,000 per month depending on the role and potential of the candidate. It is entirely up to the students to make the most of the opportunities that are available to them. Apart from this, industrial visits are also scheduled at companies like Mother Dairy, Maruti, Yakult, Coca-Cola, Parle, etc. so that students can get to know more about the processes involved closely.
The significance of internship:
At times, it is observed that students don’t take their internship/training seriously. They are just bothered about their certificates, which is not a good attitude. You will understand the importance of internships and on-site training at the time of placement when the recruiters start asking questions about your internship. And when you are unable to answer the questions, then the interview is just a formality.

All the students are required to present the internship report along with their learning and proof of internship. Also, it is important to maintain an internship diary in which one needs to record the daily activities at the site/office, countersigned by your reporting manager. It is one of the rules that all of the students are asked to follow at GLA.
Regarding internships, your focus should be only on getting into a good organisation where you can learn how organisations work, how things move in the office, etc. rather than whether you are getting paid or not. It will be much more helpful in the long run if you have taken your internship seriously. Try to utilise the time by asking your queries to the reporting manager and learning as much as possible.
You must be punctual and regular at the office throughout the internship duration. The managers have their own work and deadlines. They don’t like to be bothered most of the time. So, it is your responsibility to know how you manage and work.
