Commonly asked questions
The IPM Aptitude Test exam is conducted for two hours or 120 minutes. The exam is conducted every year in the computer-based test mode. There are three sections in the IPMAT question paper, i. e. Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. Each section is to be solved within 40 minutes. Since IPM Aptitude Test is a centre-based online exam the test screen will move from first section to the next section automatically as soon as the time limit gets over. Thus candidates have to be mindful of the on-screen timer and pre-decide the number of questions to solve in each section. It is not mandatory to solve all the questions in IPM AT exam so candidates can devise a strategy to use 40 minutes per section as per their strength and weakness. Candidates must also keep in mind the negative marking in the IPM AT exam. One mark will be deducted from the overall score for each incorrect answer. For every correct answer, four marks will be awarded.
IPM AT has a total of 120 questions. Each section carries 40 questions. For each correct attempt, four marks are awarded and one mark is deducted for an incorrect attempt. There is no deduction of marks for unanswered questions. Therefore, the total marks of IPMAT is 600. Sectional marking scheme for IPMAT is given below:
Verbal Ability:
- Number of questions: 40 questions
- Total marks: 160
Quantitative Aptitude:
- Number of questions: 40
- Total marks: 160
Logical Reasoning:
- Number of questions: 40
- Total marks: 160
Since IPM AT has negative marking scheme, candidates must choose the questions to solve very carefully and smartly. If they are not sure of the correct answer, they should leave the question instead of taking a chance.
The topics in the IPM Aptitude Test syllabus have remained the same. Students should go through previous years' question papers and exam specific sample papers to know the kind of questions asked in the exam, their difficulty level and the weightage given to different topics to bifurcate the topics according to their importance in the exam.
