Ten Preparation Tips for NIOS 12th Mathematics Exam

Students should keep the topic-wise weightage for Maths in mind and come up with a preparation strategy that allocates enough time for covering syllabus and revision. Here are the key tips to make the preparation process for NIOS Class 12 Maths easier.

  1. Understand the syllabus of the examination in detail

The first step to prepare for board examinations is to understand and strictly follow the syllabus. Go through your syllabus in detail, carefully note, and understand the weightage of each topic and start preparation accordingly.

  1. Analyse strengths and weaknesses

The students need to identify their strengths and weaknesses and make a list of the same for analysis. After analysing the weaknesses, work on them consistently to convert these into strengths before the scheduled exam.

  1. Draft an action plan (study routine) and stick to it

When preparing for your exams, one of the most important things is time. Therefore, it’s important to create a study schedule, stick to it religiously and cover topics within the defined time. Allot time to cover each subject within the study hours and dedicate more time to the weaker subjects. Also, allot time for breaks in the schedule to relax.

  1. Re-Read. Re-write. Revise. Repeat.

To prepare for a subject like Maths, the students need to practise the numerical problems every day. The more they practise, the easier it will become to solve the problems quickly within the specified time during the exam. Also, as there are many important formulae and theorems in Maths, it is necessary to go through them regularly.

  1. Use visuals to retain more information

Use different colours to mark different ideas, concepts, formulae, etc. This will help in retaining the information better and for a longer time. It can help in spotting the right information easily during revision.

  1. Rest and de-Stress during preparation

A burnt-out/ tired brain is not good at retaining information. Hence, taking breaks in long study hours becomes important for every student. Not letting stress build-up while preparing a topic is another important practice. Participating in regular exercises, yoga and spending some time in nature are some common ways to relax and refresh the mind.

  1. Solve question papers of previous years

To get an extra edge over other students, practise NIOS 12th previous years' question papers regularly, which will help to understand the pattern and analyse the repeated questions. After completing the syllabus, practise these previous years’ question papers daily and complete the same within the prescribed time.

  1. Learn important formulae and theorems

The students should write down important formulae and theorems in a separate notebook or paper and go through the same daily. This will help in quick revision of the formulae before the exam.

  1. Eat healthy and stay fit

During the preparation, students must also focus on staying fit and healthy. Eat food rich in nutrients and sleep for a minimum of seven to eight hours in a day. This will help in staying calm and focussed.

  1. Keep distractions away

The students should stay away from distractions such as social media, games, TV, etc. during the exams.  Students waste a lot of time due to these distractions without even realizing, which causes stress and anxiety when the syllabus is not completed. Hence, students must strictly follow a schedule and not give in to any distraction during the exams.
