NIOS 12th Exam Pattern 2026: Get Latest Pattern & Marking Scheme

For NIOS 12th exam, each subject paper will be conducted for 100 Marks. This 100 marks involve theory, internal, and practical components. The internal assessment will have a weightage of 10 marks, and the practical exam will carry 30 marks. The time duration of the NIOS board exam is 3 Hours. Students should understand the NIOS exam pattern and prepare accordingly. The grading of subjects is made of two parts, Tutor Marked Assignments, or TMAs and the final examinations.

NIOS has divided the subjects for class 12 into six groups namely Group A, B, C, D, E and F. Group A consists language subjects.  Other groups include subjects from Science, Commerce, Humanities and others. Each student has to select a minimum 5 subjects in total while applying for NIOS admission 2025. It is mandatory to choose one language subject from group A and other subjects can be chosen from any group.

80% score in NIOS 12th exam is considered as a good mark to get into reputed colleges. Students can apply for merit seat for degree course in top colleges. They can also try entrance exams. 

A good marks in NIOS Class 12 exam is generally considered to around 80 percent or higher. Marks above 90 per cent is considered excellent. 

NIOS board do not release toppers list after the NIOS 12th result 2026. Any score more than 80% is considered as good score in the NIOS 12th result.

The NIOS offers a choice in the medium of studies at the secondary level in English Hindi Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and Punjabi medium. Students can choose accordingly at the secondary level. The learner is free to choose any one of these mediums for studies. At Class 12 level, the course is offered only Hindi English Urdu mediums. NIOS Board will distribute the NIOS 12th mark list after the results. Students have to collect their NIOS 12th marklist from their respective regional centre. They can start applying degree courses after NIOS 12th result 2026.

NIOS board does not sent any individual notification regarding the declaration of the NIOS 12th result. Students need to keep a track of the same online. Once announced, the NIOS 12th results can be checked by logging with the required credentials.

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) began the registration process for the NIOS 10th, 12th public exam April-May 2026. Students appearing for NIOS board exam 2026 April-May are required to pay the exam fees through the official website, nios.ac.in. Students enrolled in stream 1, block 1 for March/April 2026 exam can pay the exam fee from Nov 21 to Dec 20, 2025 without late fee. They can do the fee payment from 21st December, 2025 to 31st December, 2025 with late fee INR 150 Per subject. With consolidated late fee INR 1600 Per learner, learners enrolled for April/May 2026 can pay from 01 January, 2026 to 10th January, 2026.
