NIOS 12th Registration 2026 (Started for April-May): Check Last Date & How to Apply Online

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) began the registration process for the NIOS 10th, 12th public exam April-May 2026. Students appearing for NIOS board exam 2026 April-May are required to pay the exam fees through the official website, nios.ac.in. Students enrolled in stream 1, block 1 for March/April 2026 exam can pay the exam fee from Nov 21 to Dec 20, 2025 without late fee. They can do the fee payment from 21st December, 2025 to 31st December, 2025 with late fee INR 150 Per subject. With consolidated late fee INR 1600 Per learner, learners enrolled for April/May 2026 can pay from 01 January, 2026 to 10th January, 2026.

The learners need to pay the required registration fee and the examination fee. NIOS Theory Exams fee is INR 250 per subject. Students have to pay INR 120 per subject for NIOS Practical exams. Additional INR 50/- will be charged for each transaction. Students have to visit the official website for registration. A learner registering under Stream-2, Stream-3, Stream-4 and desirous to take different subjects or additional subject from parent boards, will have to pay INR 720/- per subject in addition to Admission/Registration Fee, Examination Fee and TOC fee.

Students can apply for NIOS online through sdmis.nios.ac.in. The NIOS board releases all the notifications on the NIOS portals. Candidates are advise to regularly visit the NIOS portals for the latest update. The NIOS admits students of Class 10 in two-cycle. All eligible students can register themselves through the official NIOS website. 

The last date for NIOS 12th April/May Exam fee was Jan 10, 2026 with late fee INR 1600 per learner. Students can check the details regarding the NIOS 12th exam fee payment 2026 on NIOS 12th application page. Admit card will be issue for those who paid the exam fee. Students can visit nios.ac.in for completing the fee payment process. They have to pay the fees online.

In case, there is any discrepancy in students personal details, address, photo etc., the same should be corrected through NIOS e-services. As per the NIOS rules, correction in the admission records will be considered prior to appearing in the first examination or within 3 years of learners from the date of registration for admission upon uploading of supporting documents. Correction, if any, may be requested in such a manner that the same may be done before the issue of NIOS Admit Card so that Pass documents are issued with correct details. No request for correction will be accepted after 3 years from the date of registration. Applicable fee for above corrections, in addition to fee for revised document as per NIOS norms, will be charged online. 'the latest correction rules' will be applicable at the time of making request for correction in the record.
Please note that the revised corrected documents will be issued only after students have submittted the Origional Documents (Marksheet, Mirgration Certificate or Provisional Certificate or Final Certificate) with incorrect details issued to students by NIOS and requisite fee.

Subjects available for students at the secondary level include Hindi English Urdu, Sanskrit, Bengali, Odia, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Assamese, Nepali, Malayalam, Arabic, Persian, Tamil, Sindhi, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Home Science; Psychology, Indian Culture and Heritage, Painting, Data Entry Operations, Accountancy, Hindustan Music, Carnatic Music, Veda Adhyan, Sanskrit Vyakaran, Bharatiya Darshan, Sanskrit Sahitya. NIOS offers 35 subjects including 18 languages for Class 10 students. The NIOS tenth class student is required to complete a minimum of 5 subjects with a minimum of one language and a maximum of two languages, to be eligible for certification. The subjects are broadly divided into two categories- Group A and Group B. Group A includes English Hindi Urdu, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Nepali, Assamese, Marathi, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Odia, Arabic, Persian and Tamil. Group B includes Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Home Science, Data Entry Operations, Psychology, Indian Culture and Heritage, Accountancy, Painting, and Data Entry Operations.

Candidates who are unable to secure pass marks in the NIOS Class 12 exam have to appear for the improvement exam or the Compartment exam. They have to apply for the same by paying the exam fee. In case the subject has both theory and practical parts, then the student has to take both the theory and practical exams. The NIOS board will release notification regarding the improvement exam after the release of the NIOS 12th result.

The NIOS offers a choice in the medium of studies at the secondary level in English Hindi Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and Punjabi medium. Students can choose accordingly at the secondary level. The learner is free to choose any one of these mediums for studies. At Class 12 level, the course is offered only Hindi English Urdu mediums. Students have the option to choose subjects of their choice from the list given on NIOS website. The NIOS Class 10 subjects are divided into two. They are Group A and Group B. A learner must choose his/her Study Centre/AI very carefully. There are multiple ways in which a candidate can check his/her NIOS result 2026 Class 12. These modes are the official website, Digilocker, and SMS. For the first two modes, candidates need Internet connectivity. For the third mode, they just need a functional mobile number.
