NIOS 12th Syllabus 2025: National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) released the NIOS syllabus for Class 12 on the official website - nios.ac.in/. Candidates preparing for the 12th NIOS board exams 205 can download the complete NIOS Class 12 syllabus below. Through the NIOS 12th syllabus, they can check the important topics they need to cover for the NIOS 12th exam 2025.

NIOS 12th Syllabus 2025 - Subjects

  • NIOS has divided the subjects for class 12 into six groups namely Group A, B, C, D, E and F.
  • Group A consists language subjects while other groups include subjects from Science, Commerce, Humanities and others.
  • Each student has to select a minimum 5 subjects in total while applying for NIOS admission 2025.
  • It is mandatory to choose one language subject from group A and other subjects can be chosen from any group.

Students must be thorough with the NIOS 12th Syllabus at least a month prior to the commencement of the examinations so as to avoid last-minute hassle as the syllabus for NIOS Class 12 is quite vast.

Q:   What are the passing marks required in the NIOS 12th exams?
A: 
Candidates should secure minimum 33% of the total marks for passing the NIOS Class 12 exam. The passing mark requirement for each subject at NIOS is similar to that of CBSE. According to the official website of the NIOS Board, the passing criteria are as follows: 1. For the secondary course, you need to score a minimum of 33% in the aggregate. Your score can be in theory plus practical (where applicable). 2. For senior secondary, you need to score at least 33% separately in the practical and theory exams. 3. Also, your total score for each subject must be 33% in at least five subjects with one language paper.
Q:   Can an aspirant change their NIOS study centre?
A: 
A learner must choose his/her Study Centre/AI very carefully. In case a learner wishes to change his/her Study Centre from one centre to another centre, they will have to apply online through E-Service. The learner have to upload valid reasons and documents. Also there is a fee of INR 400 for the same. Students have to pay via online.
Q:   What is the NIOS 12th Class Exam Pattern?
A: 

For NIOS 12th exam, each subject paper will be conducted for 100 Marks. This 100 marks involve theory, internal, and practical components. The internal assessment will have a weightage of 10 marks, and the practical exam will carry 30 marks. The time duration of the NIOS board exam is 3 Hours. Students should understand the NIOS exam pattern and prepare accordingly. The grading of subjects is made of two parts, Tutor Marked Assignments, or TMAs and the final examinations.

Following are the subjects available at the senior secondary level course. They are Hindi English Bengali, Odia, Tamil, Urdu, Sanskrit, Gujarati, and Punjabi. It also include Persian, Arabic, Malayalam, Mathematics, Physics Chemistry Biology History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Psychology, Computer Science, Sociology, Painting, Environmental Science, Mass Communication, Data Entry Operations, Introduction to Law, Library and Information Science, Veda Adhyan, Sanskrit Vyakaran, Bharatiya Darshan, Sanskrit Sahitya, Physical Education and Yog, Military Studies, Military History and Early Childhood Care and Education. The NIOS offers 41 subjects including 12 languages for 12th grade. NIOS has divided the subjects for class 12 into six groups namely Group A, B, C, D, E and F. Group A consists language subjects while other groups include subjects from Science, Commerce, Humanities and others. Each student has to select a minimum 5 subjects in total while applying for NIOS admission. It is mandatory to choose one language subject from group A and other subjects can be chosen from any group.
