Yes, GIMSR does provide a refund in case a student wishes to withdraw the admission to the Master of Surgery programme. However, the amount of the refund is subject to certain conditions. Mentioned below is the refund policy followed by the institute:

The admissions to GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Visakhapatnam is entrance based. The mode of application is online. Moreover, for GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Visakhapatnam admissions to the MBBS programme are based on the NEET-UG and MD/MS course admissions on the basis of the NEET-PG score. Admissions to the BSc Paramedical Courses are based on GAT (Paramedical UG) scores. Additional, the total annual seat intake is around 150 for the MBBS programme, around 127 are reserved under management and 23 are under the NRI seat quota.

GITAM GAT 2026 application forms will be available soon. Before applying, candidates have to ensure that they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. The application fee for GITAM GAT is INR 1200 for one group, and INR 2400 in case the candidates are applying from 2 different groups.

The last date to apply for GITAM GAT will be released with the schedule of GAT 2026. The candidates have to submit the online GAT application form within the deadline. Only the candidates who complete the application form are issued the GAT admit card to appear for the GITAM admission test. The admit card will have all the details for the GAT exam, the centre name and address, and also the repoting time for the exam.

It is compulsory for the candidates to clear the entrance exams for the Medical Sciences and Research, Visakhapatnam. The entrance exam accepted for MBBS is NEET. For MD and MS course, the entrance exams accepted include NEET PG. Moreover, for the BSc programme, candidates need to clear the GAT exam. Candidates seeking admission must have a class 12 or equivalent pass certificate with a 60% aggregate. Further, based on the BSc paramedical specialisation that a candidate chooses to pursue, he/she must have the compulsory subjects in the qualifying exam. For example, for a BSc in Anesthesia Technology, Renal Dialysis Technology, EMT, and MLT, the candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subjects.
