The selection is based on GATE scores followed by COAP Counselling. Candidates shortlisted are invited for written exam or interview round for final selections. Aspirants shall complete the GATE application process  (gate.iitk.ac.in) within the due date to be eligible for admission as there is no other provision for admission. With a valid COAP score, students may have to apply on IITJ website as well.

The total tuition fee for the MTech course ranges from INR 52,000 to INR 80,000. It is a full-time course of a two-year duration. IIT Jodhpur MTech course is offered in 12 specialisations. Candidates seeking admission can register on the institute’s official website along with the registration on Common Offer Application Portal (COAP). IIT Jodhpur releases a list of shortlisted students based on GATE scores and invites them for a written exam or interview.

IITJ is ranked 30 among top Engineering institutes as per the NIRF 2022 rankings. The institute has a good placements record. The median package offered to MTech CSE and M.Tech AI students were INR 14 LPA and INR 14.5 LPA, respectively. Some of the top companies that participated in the IIT Jodhpur placements drive were Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, IBM, TCS, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, etc.

 Candidates with a BE, BTech, BS, or BDes degree and a GATE or GPAT qualification are eligible for financial aid worth INR 12,400 per month. Even if they do not pass the GATE exam, IIT BTech graduates with a CGPA of 8 or higher are eligible for assistantships. Sponsored category students cannot get an IITJ assistantship, nevertheless. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is a registration portal. Candidates who pass GATE exam are required to apply on COAP portal for counselling. Only the students who register successfully on the portal become eligible for admission in an M.Tech course of IIT Jodhpur.

IIT Jodhpur has released the placement brochure 2024-25 for its Engineering programs. However, the detailed placement report is released for the MBA programme offered by the Institute.

According to the Engineering placement brochure 2024-25, The overall placement rate recorded during IIT Jodhpur BTech placements 2024 was 92%. In addition, BTech branch such as CSE, Mechanical and Electrical branch recorded placement rate of 98%, 97.7% and 96%, respectively in 2024.

According to the MBA placement report 2024, the highest and average package offered during MBA placements 2024 stood at INR 24.81 LPA and INR 11.77 LPA, respectively.
