IIT Placements Procedure

All the IITs follow the below-mentioned step-by-step procedure for all its students.

Step 1: The Training & Placement Cell (All IITs have a separate T&P cell), assisted by student representatives, sends invitations to companies along with relevant information and documents - Placement Brochure, Job Announcement Form (JAF), etc.

Step 2: A company can also show interest in recruiting students by contacting the T&P Cell of the respective IITs. They need to send an email to the T&P cell of the IITs of their interest.

Step 3: After receiving a filled-in JAF and relevant information from a company T&P Cell will reply to the companies through email. The dates for campus interviews are allotted based on information provided in the JAF.

Step 4: The suitable date for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) is decided by the discussions between the companies and the T&P Cell. After confirmation from the companies, students are notified of the PPT date.

Step-5: The companies visit IIT campuses to conduct PPT.

Step-6: The companies may also if interested, select pre-final year students for summer internships during the placement drive.

Step-7: Interested students register for a particular company online to make their resumes/CVs available to the companies for shortlisting.

Step-8: Companies send the list of shortlisted students by email to the T&P Cell before the campus visit for final interviews.

Step-9: The companies visit the campus for placements on the allotted dates and conduct Group Discussions/Aptitude test/Technical test/Personal Interviews etc.

Step-10: The companies furnish the final list of selected students on the same day or in few days after the completion of the selection procedure.
