JEE is the entrance exam for IITs, which are among the top colleges of our country. They are the aim of lakhs of students right from childhood. The kind of atmosphere that IITs provide for growth and development for students is really good. Due to the same, a lot of students give the exam and there is immense competition for every rank. With a drop in score by just 1 mark, the rank can vary a lot. Due to this immense competition and uncertainty involved in JEE Advanced specially, it is always good to estimate your score, rank, and finally decide the IITs which you want and which you can get. After the exam is over, all students focus on counselling and knowing the best branches in the best IITs is important. You would have to prepare lists and think a lot about your choices before finalizing anything.

- Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay: The craze for IIT Bombay is of an extreme level in students. It is one of the best institutes of the country and is located in Powai, Mumbai. It has an entrepreneurship department, which conducts courses for students interested in entrepreneurship. Also, Powai is a startup hub, so lots of entrepreneurial exposure is possible. The college offers a lot of other courses and unique ones too, like Bachelor of Science courses in Chemistry and Economics. The best branches in IIT Bombay are Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In 5-year integrated courses, Electrical Engineering with MTech. in Microelectronics is very popular. According to Top 500, IIT Madras has the fastest supercomputing facility in India. The college has 5-year integrated courses along with the 4-year regular courses. It also offers five-year BS + MS courses for Physics and Biology. The top branches in this college are Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. To secure CS safely in IIT Madras, you need an under 160 all India rank in JEE Advanced. For EE, you need a rank of around under 600. Apart from that, Mechanical, Chemical and Aerospace also are popular among students. The biodiversity found at IIT Madras is exceptional, with several endangered species residing inside the campus.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur: This is the oldest IIT and has a very big and beautiful campus. It also offers a wide variety of courses and is a top choice among JEE aspirants. It has unique courses like Agriculture and Food Engineering, Applied Geology, Exploration Geophysics, and many more. It even offers an Architecture course, which is a five-year one. Computer Science and Engineering, along with Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, are the top two courses at this institute. Another noteworthy point is that the Mathematics and Computing course is also very popular and is a five-year integrated MSc course. For securing CSE, your rank should be under 250 or so, whereas for ECE it should be under around 900. More than 30 MOUs are signed between IIT Kharagpur and the Universities of France, Germany, Spain, Australia, UK for student exchange programmes and research work.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi: It has all the modern amenities and a beautiful campus to keep the students happy all the time. The college doesn’t offer integrated MSc. programs. Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, and Electrical Engineering are the best programs at IIT Delhi. 5-year integrated BTech plus MTech in CSE is also very popular among students. For securing CSE in IIT Delhi, you need to have a rank under 100. For getting Mathematics and Computing, a rank under 320 or so is needed. If you want to prepare for CAT along with doing BTech, it will be pretty convenient for you because there are many good CAT coachings near the IIT Delhi campus.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur: This one is also a really old and big institute. The students of this college have done excellent work in research and development. IIT Kanpur has a really green campus and provides students with the best of facilities. The airstrip and Olympic size swimming pool of IIT Kanpur are very famous. IIT Kanpur also has excellent sports facilities. Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing are the top courses at this institute, wherein Mathematics and Computing is a 4-year BSc. course. An under 200 rank should get you CSE in IIT Kanpur. For EE and M&C, a rank under 850 or so will work.

The time period required to complete the JEE Main preparation depends mainly on the students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 6-month time is good enough to complete the JEE Main preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for JEE Main in 6 months considering the topics of JEE syllabus have already been studied in classes 11 and 12.
JEE Main preparation is most effective with classes 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent of topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire JEE Main syllabus as well as the syllabus of classes 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 1-2 months' time where they can focus entirely on JEE Main. Students who have started late for the JEE Main exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in classes 11 and 12. In the next two months focus on solving questions of JEE Main and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last month should be focused on solving mock tests and JEE Main previous year question papers.
