- For MTech: Aspirants have to fill out GATE application form via the official website of the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) (appsgate.iitd.ac.in). The application fee for boys is INR 2,000 and INR 1,000 for girls. Aspirants also have to apply on the institute's website for MTech course. The application fees for MTech is INR 1,000 and INR 500 for female (INR 500 for SC/ ST/ PwD category). For sponsored, self-financed and part-time category, application fees is INR 1,000.
- For MSc: Aspirants need to apply for IIT JAM for MSc. Aspirants have to pay INR 2,000 (INR 1,000 for female of all categories, SC/ ST/ PwD) for one test paper.

STEP 2: IIT Patna Cutoff/ Selection
Candidates must score equal or more than IIT Patna cutoff for admission. They need to pass JEE Main and JEE Advanced for BTech and BTech Dual Degree, IIT JAM for MSc and GATE for MTech. Aspirants can apply via IIT JAM for Integrated MSc + PhD. Candidates do not have to pass GATE/ NET for admission.

STEP 3: Counselling & Seat Allotment
Candidates are offered seat in BTech/ BTech Dual degree via JoSAA Counselling. The seats are allotted via COAP and IIT JAM Counselling (JOAP portal) in MTech and MSc programmes, respectively. Aspirants are allotted seats based on their rank. Candidates who are allotted seat need to report at the campus for document verification. No, there is no provision of a student studying free at IIT Patna as per the official website. However, IIT Patna provides a range of Merit-Cum-Means scholarships to meritorious and needy students. Any UG (BTech) student or MSc student can receive these scholarships. In general, students admitted to the particular branch of the undergraduate BTech course must continue studying that branch till completion. However, in special cases the institute may permit a student admitted through JEE to change their branch of study after the first two semesters. Such changes are permitted only for students who have completed all the common credits required in the first two semesters of their studies, in their first attempt, without having had to pass any course requirement in the summer term examination.

IIT Patna offers MTech for two-years at the PG level. This course is divided into four semesters. The institute offers MTech in. Artificial Intelligence, Power and Control, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc. Admission to MTech programme is based on GATE followed by COAP Counselling. Candidates who have completed graduation with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (55% aggregate or a CGPA of 6.0 for SC/ ST categories) can apply for full-time regular MTech programme.

No, the GATE cutoffs for IIT Patna 2025 admissions are currently unknown. The only availabe cutoff data for MSc admissions at IIT Patna comes from IIT JAM. The GATE cutoffs may differ from the IIT JAM however, the difficulty of both exams is relatively the same. Hence, candidates can expect similar
