IIT Bhilai admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list and counselling process. The step-wise admission process for all IIT Bhilai UG & PG courses is given below:
Step 1: IIT Bhilai Application Process
The IIT Bhilai application process for BTech, MTech and MSc courses is based on exam-specific registration. For example, for BTech, candidates are required to apply for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. Similarly, for the MSc, IIT JAM application form is required to be completed. However, for MTech admission, candidates have to register for GATE first. After that, the qualifying candidates have to further apply for COAP and then apply on the official website of IIT Bhilai to proceed to confirm their admission. All the PhD aspirants have to register on the official website of IIT Bhilai.
Step 2: Selection Rounds
IIT Bhilai admissions are entirely entrance-based. All the BTech aspirants are selected based on valid scores from JEE Main and JEE Advanced entrance exams. Whereas for MSc and MTech, students have to qualify for IIT JAM and GATE exams, respectively. Candidates can check with the admission office for the selection rounds of the rest of the courses.
Step 3: Release of Cutoff list, Counselling & Admission Confirmation
IIT Bhilai cutoff for BTech, MTech and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. Candidates have to register for exam-specific counselling bodies for the final seat allotment. The shortlisted candidates and then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

For admission to IIT Bhilai MTech course, students are admitted through a valid GATE score. As per the selection process, candidates must pass graduation with BTech from a recognised board. Further, candidates need to appear for GATE entrance exams and get a qualifying score to get shortlisted for the course. Later on, the final seat allotment is done through COAP Counselling session. The NTA will administer the JEE Main 2026 test in two sessions. JEE Main 2026 application form session 1 is now available. Because the exam will be given twice, the NTA will issue a different application form for the April sessions. According to the timetable, the Joint Entrance Main Exam 2026 will be held in two sessions: JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be held between January 21 to 30, 2026 and JEE Main Session 2 Exam 2026 will be held between April 2 - April 9, 2026.
The first session exam was conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2025 (Paper 1), and January 30, 2025 (Paper 2). The second session of JEE Mains was held from April 1 to 8, 2025. The JEE Main 2025 exam date for sessions 1 and 2 can be checked on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

In 2025, the IIT Jammu CSE cutoff was relatively less competitive for admission as compared to that of IIT Goa for students belonging to the General AI quota. However, as compared to IIT Bhilai, for CSE admission in the General category, the JEE Advanced cutoff range was more competitive for IIT Jam
