What is the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme at IIT Roorkee?

In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, a student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria. Full Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year. 2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.

Faculty: The lecturer for this course was prof.Shishir Sinha..He is the head of the chemical Engineering department in IIT ROORKEE.The way of teaching was super.He taught each and every lecture deeply ..And also he conducts doubt sessions every week by interacting with the students. Yes they provide lecture material for this course.It is a 12 week course. For every week they given a assignment and we have to do that out of 12 assignments they take best 8 assignment score which is generally considered as internal marks. And external exam is conducted for 100 marks and 75percent score is taken from the score we got .They give a final score by adding both internal and external exam score.

I am from Humanities background, but have cleared UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam. Can I apply for IIT Roorkee B.Des programme?

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

Does IIT Roorkee offer PhD in Design course through CEED?

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
