Vibrant college life that you'll remember for a lifetime.
Placements: Out of 30, 15 got placed, 10 go for off-campus, 5 go for higher studies 30 LPA being the highest, the lowest goes to 10 LPA, and the average is 16 LPA. Companies like Schlumberger, British Petroleum, and mainly recruit for core jobs. Internships are very few, like fewer than 5 students get core internships, and for this also CG should be above 9. Geotechnical roles or office roles also are also offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout campus (except in bathrooms), and every department has well-equipped labs (note that lab supervisors may occasionally give you bad advice, so be cautious). Classrooms also have good infrastructure, including teaching boards and projectors. The library is accessible except at night (it is also open at night during exams). Additionally, there is a 24/7 reading room. New hostels are very luxurious, old ones are decent. The mess food is very good, as there are various options available. The canteen provides a 24/7 menu at a good rate. Medical facilities are provided well, MBBS doctors are available, and with insurance, free medicine and consultation. Every sport has enough sports grounds or courts, and fun games.
Faculty: Professors are knowledgeable but can't deliver well enough to be understood by everyone. You have to learn from the side to be industry-ready, and it's possible as the peer group is supportive. 1st semester is common for everyone, so your understanding of Physics and Maths would decide toughness, then onwards, core courses decide, like GT has an easy course (as I listen from seniors). Most of the students pass, with around 2-3 percent having a backlog.
Other: I like Earth Sciences and want to learn about rock and minerals, as I had studied in my 8th-grade geography. If online resources could be given in an organised way and with a good planner, then it would have been better. If you have good friends, all the fests and events become a memory for a lifetime. All staff and professors are supportive and kind. You get regular emails about various opportunities, and the channel has lots of information.

My college campus is very nice.
Placements: Approximately 80-85 percent of students are placed in our college every year. The highest package from our college is approximately 1.5 crores. Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, and Bajaj are some of the major recruiting companies. There are a total of 163 companies for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good. Our college has the famous James Thomson building, which is famous across the country. The Wi-Fi is very good. Wi-Fi is available in hostels and classrooms. Hostels are better, but three students live in a single room.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. Their teaching style is nice, but some teachers are not good, and their voice does not reach the back of the class. Semester exams are very difficult and not easy to pass. They are similar to previous year papers, and students cannot score well by studying only one night before.
Other: I chose this college because it is the only option I have. Events and fests are conducted every few months.

Absolutely satisfied. Placements are very good, which makes this a perfect Tier 1 college.
Placements: Honestly, 95 percent of students get placed in our department. The highest package is 1.20 crores per annum, and the lowest package is 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Google, Deloitte, Jio, and many others. All students get internships in the 2nd year. Top roles are HR, product management, etc.
Infrastructure: Hostels are excellent, with single rooms available. Classrooms are five-star and fully air-conditioned. The library is impressive, with all types of books available. The food in the mess is very good, fresh, and hygienic. All types of sports are also available.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and understanding. They provide 24-hour support. Teachers are of high quality and have master’s degrees in their subjects. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready, and companies are impressed by our college students. Semester exams are very hard. You have to be consistent in your studies to score well.

My journey and experience at IITR.
Placements: In our CSE batch, around 90% of students get placed. Coming to packages, the highest package is at the crore level, the average package is 15 LPA, and the lowest package is 8 LPA. Top companies include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, quant companies, etc. The roles offered are SDE, data science, ML engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: For our department/course, we have fast Wi-Fi, modern labs, smart classrooms, and rich central libraries. Hostel facilities are decent enough with 24/7 internet. Even the mess food is good and decent. Medical centres are always available. Coming to the sports section, it is excellent and well-maintained.
Faculty: The teaching staff is highly qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is concept-oriented and very practical. The curriculum is relevant and industry-oriented. Semester exams are tough, but grading is very fair. The pass percentage is around 98% with regular attendance and effort.
Other: I chose computer science because I had a strong interest in coding and problem-solving. My best parts are strong fundamentals and projects. IIT Roorkee has vibrant fests, good connectivity, a green campus, scholarships, and active clubs.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2027

Overall really good absolutely dissatisfied from mess and faculty.
Placements: This time IIT Roorkee is having one of its worst placement seasons. 100 students are placed in the current placement season from mechanical branch. The highest package offered is 51LPA the lowest package offered is 10LPA and the average package offered is 21LPA. The top recruiting companies are Amazon and Oracle. The positions offered are software development management and supply chain. 50 students got internships and mostly people got off campus. The PIC cell has failed to bring the much needed core companies like Jaguar and even negotiate proper offers or request more vacancies.
Infrastructure: The course structure is very good but it still needs improvement as most of the courses are either related to out of industry knowledge or are completely backward structured. More courses like data structures or a course providing interview knowledge regarding data structures questions being asked in the interview. Classrooms have highly functional Wi-Fi AC and heaters. The library is excellent. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is the worst with a rating of 1 out of 5 stars. The medical facilities sports and games are excellent as there are experienced doctors and coaches to help us in our endeavor.
Faculty: Teachers here are no doubt extremely knowledgeable and highly qualified but they are not that helpful. Most of them do not explain the doubts properly and they also expect that no one will copy the assignments and also submit on time. The course curriculum is slightly relevant it needs to improve vastly as it fails to make the students industry ready and thus many students have to prepare online to crack interviews and even company exams. The semester exams are really difficult and the grading is relevant. There is no pass percentage.
Other: II purely got this branch due to my JEE Advanced Rank. Electrical or electronics are always my first preference but even though the mechanical branch is really good and I will say it exposes you to the world of robotics advanced printing technology and also enabled me to build an underwater vehicle. I wish my course to have more subjects evolving around computer Science or data structure and algorithms as it becomes really difficult for people who are aiming for non core jobs. Fest events campus and connectivity are excellent.

Excellent but dissatisfied with faculty and course structure.
Placements: This time IIT Roorkee is having the worst placement season with only 47 companies coming for this placement/internship season. 100 students are placed from the mechanical branch. The highest package offered is 51 LPA the average package offered is 19 LPA and the lowest package offered is 6.6LPA. Top recruiting company is Amazon and it came for various posts. Top roles offered are management and software development. 40 people got on campus internships and others went for off campus internships. This is not a good result as the PIC is failing to bring more core companies and negotiate better offers.
Infrastructure: Our department has many facilities including smart classrooms and laboratories. Classrooms are good they have all the facilities but laboratories are still developing. There are some outdated methods that are still being used considering them to be basic experiments. Some of them are really outdated. There is a central library which is very good well maintained. Hostels are good they have many facilities including Wi-Fi gyms canteens and sports rooms. The main problem is the mess it offers really bad quality and taste of food.
Faculty: Faculty members are experienced qualified knowledgeable and helpful. Some faculty members are really rude towards the students and some faculty members also do favoritism towards a particular community of students. They are trying to make it relevant they introduce some new courses like AI/ML and Data Science but they are still unable to deliver quality content about the course. The professor with little knowledge about the course is assigned to teach the course instead of assigning a good faculty. It does not make students industry ready. They are very hard and the grading system is relatively so we do not have a pass percentage.
Other: ]I got the course by JEE Advanced Rank although I will have gone for a higher branch if I am eligible. Mechanical branch is good if one is really interested in understanding the dynamics and the core functionality of the secondary sector of the country. Personally the best thing about the course is that I get to work with 3D printers and CNC machines. The course should cater more to be industry specific for contemporary times rather than teaching the old stuff that is no longer used in industries. Events fest campus crowd extracurricular activities are 1000 on 10.

Aspirants must keep in mind that exam difficulty level cannot be determined by organising body. JEE Advanced paper is not made by one single IIT; but it is prepared by experts from multiple institutes. Difficulty level of exam is independent of the IIT conducting exam.
