Overall, if you are thinking of joining IIPE, you should definitely come.
Placements: The highest package at IIPE is around 25 LPA. In Chemical Engineering, placement is almost 100%. All PSUs that recruit for Chemical Engineering visit the campus. 100% of the 2021–2025 batch secures internships in PSUs and energy firms such as ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, and GAIL. IIPE’s core strength lies in its robust placements in the Chemical and Petroleum branches, with a placement rate of around 94%. The average package is around 8.5 LPA, and the highest package is nearly 25 LPA. Internships are universally secured in top PSUs and energy-sector companies.
Infrastructure: The permanent campus is under development. Please do not worry, the temporary campus is also good. All classrooms are fully air-conditioned. The entire campus, including classrooms, labs, hostels, and common areas, features good facilities and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.
Faculty: Every faculty member is very nice and helpful. Professors often hold degrees from IITs or IISc and are praised for being supportive and knowledgeable. Frequent lab sessions, projects, and guest lectures from industry professionals reinforce learning.

All about IIPE Visakhapatnam.
Placements: According to the 2024 placement data, the placement percentage was around 96%. The highest package was 23 LPA, while the lowest package was less than 5 LPA. Many companies recruit at IIPE, but the top recruiting companies include HPCL, ONGC, and various PSUs. Approximately 97% of students secured summer internships in 2024, with project manager being one of the top roles.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are quite good, equipped with Wi-Fi, laboratory facilities, and a library that is relatively small for our needs. We also have a sizable sports ground for outdoor games. The IIPE hostel is among the best compared to other government colleges, offering many amenities. We have one table tennis board, two carrom boards, a gym, and water facilities on each floor. Each room is a sharing arrangement with two beds, two cupboards, two study tables, two windows, and a personal washroom.
Faculty: The teachers at IIPE are very helpful and highly qualified, possessing extensive knowledge. The quality of teaching is excellent, and they address all our doubts during class and office hours. The course curriculum is relevant and prepares students for the industry with practical labs for various experiments. The semester exams are manageable, covering topics discussed in class, and the passing marks are relatively straightforward.
Other: I always wanted to be an engineer, which is why I pursued this course. The best aspect of our program is the practical knowledge we gain, which helps us enter the industry. I believe the course should have fewer subjects but with deeper knowledge. IIPE organizes an annual fest each year, along with cultural events such as those on August 15th and January 26th, among many others. The campus population is around 500, as we don’t have a large number of students. The college provides scholarships based on caste; for SC/ST students, there are no tuition fees, and for OBC students with an income less than 1 lakh, tuition fees are also waived.

Good placements, but dissatisfied with campus life, less fests, no campus, no ground, etc.
Placements: Nearly 98% of students got placed. The highest package is 24 LPA CTC. The lowest salary is 4 LPA. Oil India and GAIL India Limited are recruiting companies. 100% of students got internships at PSU in oil and gas industry. Top role is executive trainee in Oil India Limited and GAIL India Limited.
Infrastructure: All facilities mentioned are available, and for hostel, the infrastructure is not so good. Food is from private vendors which is below average. Medical facilities are basic but you get a checkup at discount rated in good hospitals like Medicover, Apollo, etc. Sports and games are nearly nil.
Faculty: Teachers are friendly, caring, and highly skilled. The course curriculum is relevant but can be improved. It is industry-ready, only semester exams are not so difficult, they are answerable if classes are attended properly. In the course curriculum, I could suggest keeping last semester free without classes.
Other: It is related to daily life and having enough opportunities. Best things are more free time, course infrastructure, and more practical oriented courses.

I am absolutely satisfied with my college placements, especially this year.
Placements: Around 98% of students get placed. The highest package is 25 LPA from ONGC followed by Oil India. The lowest package by Mordor Intelligence India Cements ranges from 3-4 LPA. The average package is 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies are ONGC, HPCL, GAIL, HRRL, and IOCL. 100% of students got internships in the core chemical engineering sector, and we got internships in the above-mentioned PSUs. The top roles offered are process engineer and grade officer.
Infrastructure: In the chemical engineering department, Wi-Fi and labs are there including a lot of special bulk fiber commodity chemicals, XRD labs, etc. Classrooms are AC equipped, including projectors, and a seating capacity of around 50 students. Library contains more than 10,000 books including the latest journals. In hostels, mess food is good by private vendors and mess charges are around Rs. 5,500. Hostels are non-AC and AC both with single sharing and double sharing and charges that range from Rs. 30,000-40,000.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. They all have done masters and PhD from IITs. Some of them lack good teaching quality but are very knowledgeable. Most of them are knowledgeable and they teach well. The course curriculum is updated with the latest demands234. Computer simulations like MATLAB, Aspen, and Comsol software are also taught. Object-oriented programming, python, and C programming languages are also taught. This cumulative makes students subject-ready.
Other: I chose this course because I have always been interested in core chemical engineering jobs in particular PSU jobs. The best thing about this course is that it simply involves the basic first principles approach and those are used in the construction and operation of these massive process plants. More software could be involved would make it better. Events are conducted annually including the Shashwat techno-cultural competition. The remaining occasional events are also there like from litcom club and robotics club.

LIPE through a student eye.
Placements: Our college provides a good placement percentage (approximately 90%). Top PSU companies like ONGC, HPCL, IOCL, GAIL, etc., come to our college for recruitment. Almost 99% of students in our college got internships in their seventh semester. The highest package is 24 LPA. The average package is 9 LPA. The lowest package is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Due to lack of permanent campus, we have a very bad infrastructure. Despite this, our college provides Wi-Fi, labs, library, etc. Our college has a private hostel right now. Mess charge is very high but its quality is very bad. We have a doctor who visit our hostel every Saturday.
Faculty: Our college provides top faculty members coming from top of the IIT's. Our course curriculum is relevant. There are two exams in each semester, mid-semester consisting of 30 marks and end-semester consisting of 50 marks. Exams are moderately difficult. Passing percentage is approximately 90%.
Other: Our college has three branches for B. Tech currently petroleum, chemical, and mechanical. Currently, most of the students choose chemical branch in our college. I also choose chemical because I want to go into electro-chemistry field. Our college provides scholarships based on income just like IIT's. We have a fest each year named Saswat. We have also an intra-sports in each semester.
