IIT Palakkad admission is entrance-based. Candidates need to clear the cutoff in the entrance exam of their respective course and participate in national-level counselling. They need to qualify eligibility to apply for admission. Eligibility criteria for IIT Palakkad courses is given below:
- BTech: Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in PCM.

IIT Palakkad Application Process
Candidates must register and fill out the application form online on the official website of IIT Palakkad for admission in MS and PhD. However, for other courses, candidates are required to complete the registration/application process of the respective entrance exam:
- BTech aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) and JEE (Advance) on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in) The application fee for boys is INR 1,000 for male General/OBC candidates and INR 800 for female General/OBC candidates, per paper. Application fee for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates is INR 500.
- MTech candidates are required to register for GATE on the official website of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) (appsgate.iitd.ac.in). The application fee for Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates is INR 1000 and INR 1500 incase extended, while for all other candidates, it is INR 2000 and INR 2500 incase extended per test paper.
- MSc candidates must register for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) through the official website (iitr.ac.in). Admission to each of the MSc courses will be offered to those who qualify in the exams and appear for the JAM counselling. The application fee for Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates is INR 1,000 for one paper and INR 1350 for two papers. General and OBC candidates pay INR 2,000 for one paper and INR 2,700 for two papers.
Selection Process
Candidates are shortlisted based on their score and rank in respective entrance exams. Candidates are then required to go through the selection process which requires them to to go through the course-wise counselling process for final seat allocation.
For BTech admission, candidates need to participate in JoSAA counselling. For admission to MTech and MSc, students have to participate in COAP and CCMN counselling, respectively.
