Medical College Kolkata Admission FAQs
The selection process for MBBS admissions in India involves the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which is the mandatory entrance exam for MBBS and BDS programs. Candidates must score above the minimum cutoff percentile set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to qualify for the next stage. Admissions are divided into two quotas: All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota, with AIQ accounting for 15% of seats and the remaining 85% allocated to the state quotas. Candidates register for counseling based on their NEET scores and preferences, which involves multiple rounds of seat allocation based on merit and preferences. Some seats may be reserved under the institutional quota and management quota, with different admission criteria. The minimum NEET score required for MBBS admissions varies from year to year, and it is advisable to check the latest NEET cutoff percentiles released by the NTA.
The Eligibility criteria for MBBS at Medical college of Kolkata is pretty much similar to other goverment medical colleges. The MBBS course seats are allotted on the basis of NEET-UG score and rank. Therefore, the candidates will have to apply for the NEET-UG examination conducted by the NTA for the admissions for MBBS. After the NEET-UG results, the cutoff is released by the MCC or the Medical counselling committee based on various factors. Candidates who cleared the cutoff marks set by the college will be called for the admissions process. The cutoff differs each year. The candidates must have also secured a minimum of 50% in Physics, chemistry, biology and English in their class 10 and 12 examination. The cutoff scores depends on the individual candidates as they vary for each categories. Without qualifying for the NEET cutoff it is not possible t get admissions to any MBBS colleges in India. It is difficult to get admissions to top government medical college which are below 500 to 600.

These can be availed by students who meet the criteria set by the government. If eligible the students can contact the required teachers of the department for any futher inquiries on what needs to be done. The scholarships might be based on the academics or the financial conditions of the student. These scholarships are given to help and support the students. There are several other scholarships that are available to the MBBS students that are not part of this institution. INSPIRE Scholarships, ONGC Scholarships, AIIMS Fellowship, stc. The probability is low, but there are chances that you might get admission at the Medical college Kolkata. 590+ marks can get you a seat in the top colleges through state quota. The 480+ marks is a marginal score that has a chance to get you into the state quota. But if students get less than this, then they can get admission only in the private medical colleges. It is quite impressive if they get 400+ marks, considering the difficulty level of the examination.
The admissions for the medical colleges also depend on the category candidates belong to. If the candidate belongs to OBC category and they get a score of 480 marks then you might not get a seat at any government medical college. Since Medical college of Kolkata is a public or government college, possibility is less.
The Medical college Kolkata, offers a total of 250 seats for the MBBS course. The institute will take in only 250 students in a year. This number of seats are based on its capacity to accommodate the students. The course is offered for a total tuition fee of 40,500. The candidates are selected for the course based on their NEET-UG exam marks. These students must secure the maximum marks as the minimum cutoff or marks required changes from year to year. Since thousands of candidates write the exams it becomes necessary for them to clear the cutoff and go through the counselling process. The seats for MBBS are also limited, therefore candidates with the maximum mark and the highest ranks are selected by the Institutions. The cutoff also differs based on the category the students belong to.
The selection process for MBBS in India is primarily based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores. The minimum NEET score required for MBBS admission varies each year and depends on factors such as the category of the candidate and the availability of seats. For the general category, the minimum marks required in NEET for MBBS was between 725-132 for 2022.
